Things Your Dog Doesn't Want You To Know

Dog owners can only imagine what’s going through their canine’s mind as they tear up the leather sofa or chase after cars. Now, the dogs are here to tell you what they really think in the new book, Things Your Dog Doesn’t Want You to Know, by Hy Conrad, former co-executive producer and original writer of the USA Network series Monk, and his partner Jeff Johnson.

Eleven courageous dogs tell it like it is in their own words in Things Your Dog Doesn’t Want You to Know. Each chapter is dedicated to a subject – such as “I Will Never Be Full” by Orson the bulldog, “Note to the Dog-Walker”  by Charlie the miniature schnauzer and “My Life in Your Purse” by Tinkerbell the Chihuahua.

Things Your Dog Doesn’t Want You to Know includes other revelations and “pet peeves” including:

  • o   Dogs can poop the second they start their walk (but choose not to)
  • o   Why they ate the sofa (leather tastes very similar to rawhide)
  • o   What they really think of costumes
  • o   Why humans should really try to honor the bed rules (it’s their bed, not yours),
  • o   Tricks with treats (seriously, am they just getting a treat or are you trying to lure them into the bathtub?)

The 411 by Maria:

We LOVE this book. Back in the day I had blogs dedicated to the kids that were written in their voices. This reminds me so much of that. Written by 11 dogs to their owners, each dogs personality shines through on colorful, journal like pages. My particular favorites are the parenting advice the dogs have for their owners. "whose idea was it to put a new rug down at exactly the same time I had puppies" and "there have to be rules dear". This is the perfect book for dog lovers of all ages. Even my kids have started asking me to read the book to them. I have had to skip over and change some words but not often. They think the dogs should have their own show. They even have favorites. Goddess likes Tinkerbell and Handsome likes Dimples. Personally, I like Moonbeam, he cracks me up. Each dog has a distinct personality and you will find yourself wondering what your dog is thinking about. A+ for a fun, beautifully crafted book.

  1. This looks like a great book! We have a dog...and I often wonder what she is thinking as she is running off with a pair of underwear or a long strand of toilet paper. I think my whole family would enjoy this book.

  2. lol love the picture and the title of the book sounds very interesting

  3. Great pics! I love that the dog really looks like he's listening to Goddess read!
