The Amazing Colors Of Kalahari Water Park

My family and I headed to Kalahari Water Park in PA this past month. It just opened this Summer and we LOVED it.

One night while the boys were still at the water park Goddess and I headed out and took some photos of the hotel and all the colorful decor.

Here are just a few.

These are some of the lights that grace the convention area.

Handsome joined us the next night for a photo!

Down in the family gaming area there was this cool Zoltar...I didn't get my fortune but now wish I had just for the sake of saying I did.

They also had a glow in the dark miniature golf area. This guy was pretty cool. Look at that face.

Some of the games the kids played.  Handsome is just now getting into superheros and Batman is the ONE he likes best. He had a Power Ranger thing last year but it was short lived.

She didn't actually play this one but I didn't to take a photo of how cute it was. The seats are toilet bowls.

The decorations were so colorful and fun!  This table cracked me up.

Back To School Snacks For The Lunchbox Or An After School Treat

My daughter LOVES chocolate. Who can blame her really. Not many don't love it. My son is currently the only person I can think of who doesn't. I wish I were more like him but since I am not I love that we were introduced to Sugar Bowl Bakery. These are truly the perfect size for her lunch box snack and I have a feeling they will be in Goddess' lunchbox every day.

Sugar Bowl Bakery has taken some of the most loved snacks and created something you don't feel terribly guilty about handing out or eating yourself.

Look at all those sweet, little darlings! I would hate to tell you how many are left!

They are great right out of the pack, under ice cream or warmed up and drizzled with some caramel sauce. Yeah we know how to party here.

You can see they are a perfect size and at only 90 calories, go ahead and indulge.

Goddess had an art class today and needed to bring lunch since it is from 9-1! Yup....that brownie is in there.

We love them. They taste like homemade and are nice and soft inside.

Sugar Bowl Bakery don't only make brownies, they also have Madeleines and Petite Palmiers. We hope to visit Costco this week to grab more. Visit Sugar Bowl Bakery to find out where you can pick them up for yourself

Walking Through Memory Lane - Tree Posing (Aug 28, 2008)

Blood on blood, One on one,  We’d still be standing when all was said and done
Blood on blood, One on one, and I’ll be here for you till Kingdom come
Blood on blood-Bon Jovi

I love this picture. At the end of our Botanical Garden trip they asked me to take their picture against this tree. I love how they both made a face and I adore their pose. What I love the most is that this picture really shows how similar they are.
As the years go by and they make friends outside of each other, I hope they will remember how very similar they are. My wish is that they always look to be in each other’s life long after they HAVE to be.

How to Make a Hair Bow Using Ribbon #DIY

Goddess loves DIY projects. I can't wait to show this to her. Heading out tomorrow to pick up some ribbon for her back to school outfit. Hopefully it comes out decent. Looks easy enough.

Ribbon hair bows and clips are currently trending but purchasing these accessories can be very expensive. Why spend money on ready-made bows when you can easily create your own custom hair bows?

Many little girls love to wear adorable bows in their hair. Unfortunately, buying unique hair bows to match different outfits can add up quickly unless you make them yourself. With a bit of imagination, a few basic supplies and step-by-step instructions, you can assemble a lovely collection of beautiful hair bows that you can make for pennies on the dollar. Also, these are great gift ideas!

Gather Your Supplies

Make sure to gather all bow making supplies to avoid having to run to the store in the middle of your project. Basic supplies required include:

·         Narrow grosgrain ribbon
·         Scissors
·         Wide grosgrain ribbon
·         Needle and thread
·         Hot glue gun with glue sticks
·         Alligator clips or barrettes

Depending on the particular style of hair bow you are making, you may need a variety of sizes of ribbon. Experiment with different colors too, matching different shades of one color in an ombre style or using contrasting colors like blue and yellow.

Steps to Make a Hair Bow

There are many different techniques you can use to make hair bows. Once you get the hang of making a traditional bow, you can experiment with a variety of styles. Here are eight simple steps to create a basic bow:

1.       Measure out four inches of the narrow ribbon. Press the ends of the clip together and insert the ribbon between the prongs right to the back. Close the clip.
2.       Run hot glue across the top of the clip to attach the ribbon.
3.       Place the glue all along the clip, one section at a time, and press the ribbon as you go. Continue until the entire clip is completely lined.
4.       Measure out 12 inches of the wide ribbon.
5.       Fold ribbon in fourths.
6.       Use clips to hold folded ribbon together. Thread a needle and sew all of the pieces together.
7.       Loop the thread around once and tie. Cut excess thread.
8.       Take another piece of narrow ribbon and make a knot. Attach knot to the top of the bow with glue.

With endless ways to make your own personalized hair bows quickly, economically and effortlessly, you can create unique styles to complement any wardrobe. Hair Bows will never go out of fashion and are very easy to match with most outfits, so discover your favorites and make them all!

The August Pinch Me Box Came At Just The Right Time #pinchme

I got back from a family vacation to find this box from PinchMe waiting at my door.

Above you can see everything that came in it. We all needed a good dose of moisturizer after spending four days swimming.

We went through these tubes of Gold Bond in the past week. My heels, elbows and legs needed this so bad. The rest of the house needed it for their legs.

They both go one nicely making your skin feel silky smooth. I prefer the healing with aloe.

With the fall coming soon, we will be purchasing so much more.

The Scotch-Brite® Extreme Scrub Sponge makes me so happy because it is purple and black. There are so many reasons to love this sponge besides the cool Halloween colors.

It definitely is the perfect size and does a great job of cleaning and scrubbing by switching to either side of the sponge. The purple is sponge and the black side is the scrub.

ALSO no more smelly sponge. With antimicrobial product protection+, the Scotch-Brite® Extreme Scrub Sponge resists bacterial odors and has 4x the scrubbing power of next leading competitor, eliminating the need for pre-soaking!

Great for:

  • Uncoated posts & pans
  • Glass & ceramic bakeware
  • Glass storage containers
  • Grill grates

I know I should floss every time I eat but honestly I do it every night when I do my last brushing of the day. I use a roll floss. The kind we have been using since we were kids.

The DenTek Comfort Clean Floss Pick is so different. You use and toss but it also has a pick on the end for getting into areas with full control.

Honestly, the very next day after using this, I wished I had it so I could get something between my teeth that was bothering me so I went the next day and bought myself a multi pack.

DenTek Comfort Clean Floss Pick’s silky ribbon floss is gentle on teeth and gums while comfortably removing food and plaque.

The textured pick deep cleans between teeth and stimulates gums without hurting your mouth. Plus the built-in tongue cleaner helps fight bad breath. Try DenTek Comfort Clean Floss Picks to care for your healthy smile.
  • Ultra thin, silky ribbon floss slides smoothly between teeth

Walking Down Memory Lane - First Carousel Ride (Aug 26, 2008)

She was so excited when she saw the merry-go-round. She knew exactly what animal she wanted before we even got on it. She wanted to get off the moment we strapped her on.

I took my kids to the zoo this week. While there I asked them if they wanted to go on the carousel. My daughter did not hesitate. Like everything she was gung ho, knew exactly what she wanted to ride and couldn’t wait until we walked onto it. Once there someone picked her up and strapped her in while I assisted my son. I don’t know if it was because a stranger picked her up or if the giraffe was really just too big for her but she wanted off and she wanted off bad. My son also had never been on a ride at 5 years old and I really wanted him to try it. She was telling me she was scared in one ear and I was talking to her about everything being ok while trying to tell my son exactly what was going to happen. We are going to go in a circle, music is going to play and your cougar is going to go up and down.

She was begging me to take her off and I just kept telling her it was find and that I wouldn’t let her go but I really wanted to enjoy the ride because of my son.

When the ride started they were both very quiet. Her giraffe didn’t move up and down thankfully because while holding her on, I was holding him on as he went up and down. I took this picture very quickly so that we had one of her on the carousel.

When the ride ended my son really wanted to go on again but I couldn’t put her on again and we were alone. He was nervous to put him on himself so I promised him the next time he would get to ride twice. I hope my little one eventually loves rides. It was a great day and I enjoyed running around with them.

When Calls The Heart: Heart of the Family DVD Review

I have become very found of this series When Calls the Heart on the Hallmark Channel, produced by Michael Landon Jr, and based on the novel by Janette Oke

Synopsis:

Elizabeth returns to Hope Valley and immediately volunteers to look after a neighbor’s rural homestead… and his two children, an undertaking which proves to be a bigger chore than she’d imagined. But when Jack lends a hand, and they wind up chatting by the fire, all seems right in Hope Valley and the world. Meanwhile, in Hamilton, Bill Avery sets about busting a counterfeiting ring wide open, an endeavor which surprisingly leads him to Hope Valley, where he mysteriously declines Jack’s help. But Bill isn’t the only big-town visitor: Elizabeth is even more surprised to see her former suitor, Charles Kensington, standing right in the middle of her schoolhouse!

Somehow I missed an episode between Trials of the Heart and Heart of the Family. This episode has Elizabeth back in the "new" town of Hope Valley after go home to be with her family while her mother recuperates.

Jack and Elizabeth are still avoiding acting that they are more then they are to each other. What a man though, she would be a fool to not fall for this guy. He cares so much about her that he built her a school. He also sleeps in a barn and takes care of things while Elizabeth helps a single dad take care of his kids while he is away. HOWEVER, Elizabeth's childhood friend has come to town and believes he is the GUY for Elizabeth.

One of our newer characters has a bigger storyline with the introduction of her advice column Ask Mary Rose. However many think it may be too progressive for the people of the town. You've got to love this character. She is a spicy one!

We also have some shadiness going on with the new mayor! He will do anything to control his villagers even if that means breaking the law.

Oh and Bill Avery (Jack Wagner/AKA Frisco Jones) has returned and is definitely not the man we thought him to be AND this time he was followed by his WIFE Nora (Kristina Wagner/AKA Felicia Jones (Sorry I am a huge General Hospital fan and have been for over 38 years).

Clara is back in town and working with Abigail. Mother-in-law and new daughter-in-law have a wonderful new relationship, one that I think will be very important to Abigail. They obviously both need someone to care for and hopefully heal with.

The struggles of the people of Hope Valley bring us back to a time when life was purer, honest, and the problems were based on the time of year, the weather and whether you had a successful crop.

What I love most about this show is how family friendly it is. I never have to change the channel because an inappropriate scene surprised me and the kids are awake. This is a wholesome show that everyone in your family can watch.

Follow When Calls The Heart on Facebook and while there check out this episodes Blooper Reel

Don't Miss This Wonderful Movie! #MaddingCrowdInsiders

A few weeks ago I hosted a movie giveaway through FoxHomeInsiders. This weekend I finally got to watch Far From The Madding Crowd and it is NOT one to be missed.

Honestly prior to this giveaway/review I had never heard of it. Maybe you also have never heard of it but I can tell you it is a beautiful love story about honor, love, strength, and perseverance from the book by Thomas Hardy

If you know anything about Carey Mulligan she is a tremendous actress who we need to see much more of. I reviewed her in Never Let Me Go and still remember the impact of her talent.

In this movie, Carey Mulligan stars as a headstrong Victorian beauty in this sweeping romantic drama, based on the literary classic by Thomas Hardy. Mulligan plays Bathsheba Everdene, an independent woman who attracts three different suitors: a sheep farmer (Matthias Schoenaerts); a dashing soldier (Tom Sturridge); and a prosperous, older bachelor (Michael Sheen). This timeless story of Bathsheba’s passions explores the nature of relationships, love and resilience.

The 411:

If you love classics you will love this movie but if nothing else you look at the acting of Mulligan, Sheen and Sturridge.  The scenery is stunning and the storyline classic, moving and inspiring. There is intrigue, mystery, drama, romance, seduction and more.

Carey is an educated young woman staying at a relatives farm. She meets Shepherd Gabriel Oak who is smitted immediately. A lonely shepherd with his 100 flock asks her to marry him but she insists she has no need for a man. She doesn't want to be someone's property. Got to love a strong female role.

When Bathsheba's uncle passes away he leaves her his farm. She is now a mistress in charge of an entire farm and all it's employees AND this lady knows what she wants and it is NOT a man to take care of her. When one suitor tells her that he if she marries him she will have a piano she smirks and says, she already has one.

It is the smirk on Mulligan I love most. She always looks like she is up to something and has one up on you AND in this movie she does.

Matthias Schoenaerts as Gabriel Oaks is wonderfully strong and steady. Taking the lead and then stepping back as her friend and confident. Someone she learns to trust and lean on which is something she has a difficult time with as a strong female.

Michael Sheen was beautifully silent and dignified as the rich, older gentlemen. My heart ached for him and his forgiving, gentle way.

I loved this movie and suggest you give it a try.

Artist Beginner Kit Sparks My Creative Fire

After Goddess and I took a Mommy and Me art class I got the creative bug again. Before kids I had it. I painted every Tuesday in a art class and found it very therapeutic.

Yesterday I received through Tomoson a USA Art Supply 17 piece art kit that contained:
  • 1-Piece 24cm x 30cm Stretched Canvas
  • 12-Piece 12ml Oil Paint Colors
  • Fine Wood Palette
  • 3-Piece Bristle Paint Brushes

I had given it to Goddess to review but as I saw it sitting on the table unused I grabbed and opened telling myself it was to take a picture of the kit.

The next thing I knew I was pretending to dance the brush across the canvas and that was when the final product idea was born.

My favorite part was the artist palette. Even while talking an art class we never used palettes.

There are three sizes of brushes. I used the two smallest ones. They were perfect for a beginner and the canvas was a great touch with the kit. I have seen many kits and with two young artists in the family have purchased many but none ever came with a canvas.

This is a great gift idea for birthdays, Christmas, or whenever. The price is perfect too. Much more inexpensive then you would think.

So what do you think? Is it good? I don't love it but so proud of myself for trying. My daughter loves it and thinks the tree looks real and loves the addition of the fireflies.

Healthy Fun Back To School Snack Ideas

I recently received a package of silicone party Lego molds and was excited to research recipes to make for Goddess for her school lunch box.

Included in this Lego are 3 separate molds: 1XGreen 10 Brick ; 1X Blue 8 Mini Figures ; 1X Pink Mini & Medium Figures

These are some fun molds and great for boys or girls.

I know many people use these for jello and while we love jello I wanted to see what else we could do with them.

Goddess like most kids loves snacks and I would love to experiment with things I know she will love and surprise her in her lunch box.  If I can't be with her all day, I want her to know how much I love her.

AND our milk legos too

These Chai Tea Ice Cubes are so fun too!

The possibilities are endless. I can't wait to see what we come up with next.

9 Tricks to Clean Your Windows Better

By Jason Roberts

Do you find keeping your glass windows sparkling clean quite a challenge? The truth is unlike any other place in your home, cleaning windows isn't as easy as it looks. From hand prints to dirt and dust, glass windows are exposed to all kinds of factors that complicate things. If you’re having trouble keeping these clean, here are some tips that will save you a lot of work:

1.      Vacuum first
Dust mixed with water makes additional smears which are hard to clean. Ensure that your windows are free of dust before putting water on them, by using a vacuum cleaner. Pass it over the windows, including all the corners and sills. Use a small cotton cloth moistened with white vinegar and try to access all the corners that the vacuum cleaner could not reach. Having cleared all the loose dust, you can then commence the real window cleaning process.

2.      Use newspapers
Among the things that make cleaning a window challenging are the tools you choose to use. Unlike wooden tables or cupboards, rags and paper towels don't work well. They leave marks, smears and more, even after putting a lot of effort. So the best way to ensure that you don't have to redo the cleaning over and over is to use a newspaper. What you need to do is to apply a glass cleaner on the window/mirror and instead of using a rag, you’ll have to wipe it with a crumbled newspaper. You can also choose to dip it into the bucket containing the glass cleaner solution. Clean the glass with the wet newspaper and dry it with another one which is dry.

3.      Avoid cleaning in direct sunlight
Water dries faster if heated. What does this mean? The glass cleaner solution won't last long on the applied surface. Instead, it will dry faster giving you no time to wipe the window. As a result, it will leave marks, spots, and the worst part, it will harden the dirt. This will most likely force you to redo the work. Redoing the work over and over isn't pleasing, so it is advisable to clean windows either in the morning or in the evening.

4.      Use blackboard erasers
Blackboard erasers might be old fashioned, but they surely work well on windows. Unlike rags or any other cloth you might choose to use, blackboard erasers are known to leave the glass sparkling clean. You can even mix this method with the one with the newspaper. After the window dries, you can do the finishing with the erasers.

5.      Use distilled water
Sometimes you might see the smears after the glass dries out. Tap water might look clean, but it contains lots of minerals, including limestone. These minerals leave smears, despite all your efforts. On the other hand, distilled water is free of minerals, which means that using it on your windows and mirrors will leave your glass crystal clear.

6.      Clean windows from top to bottom
Since most of glass windows are vertically positioned and since you will need to use lots of water while cleaning them, it is important to note the starting and the ending point. While cleaning windows, watch the drips and thin lines of water flowing from the top to the bottom of the glass. As you can see, it is advisable that you start cleaning from the top part of the window and finish up with the lower part. Cleaning the window from top to bottom will reduce cleaning time, since you will only have to pass the squeegee once over the same spot. It will also reduce chances of smears being left behind to dry.

7.      Don't use too much soap
Whether you are using regular soap or professional cleaning detergent, it is advisable that you apply as little as possible. Too much soap might be harder to remove than the dirt itself. Clearing it will take time and, as a result, you’ll end up using more water than needed.

8.      Use anti-static sprays
Glass windows attract dust that piles up, especially on the corners. To stop this from happening, you have to spray windows with an anti-static spray. One of my favorites is Static Guard. The anti-static solution ensures that your window doesn't trap any dust on the short term.

9.      Choose the right glass cleaner
Do not use a solution that contains ammonia. If you don’t have a special commercial solution try club soda – it’s quite effective. Vinegar is also recommended when working on a glass with a waxy film. Two tablespoons of the white vinegar mixed with two tablespoons of medicinal alcohol plus a half spoon of corn starch mixed with warm water should do the trick. You’ll have to shake the mixture well before use.

Cleaning windows can be boring and fun at the same time, depending on how you do it. Most people make it a hobby, but the truth is, you have to clean your windows at least once per month. Following the right procedure and having the right tools makes it easier, and seeing the dust coming out makes it fun.
