Cinderelephant Is A Cinderella Story That Even Boys Will Like

Photobucket

Prince Trunky is on the lookout for a bride and the whole kingdom is invited to a ball. The Warty Sisters are determined to keep Cinderella at home and snag the handsome bachelor for themselves, but the Furry Godmouse has other ideas. The moment Cinderelephant trips into his arms, Prince Trunky knows that she is his one true love, but can he track down the lady who fits her dainty (well - almost dainty) slipper? Emma Dodd is on rip-roaring form with this hilarious take on a well-loved fairy tale.

The 411 by Maria:

My kids and I sat down to read this together because I really thought 10 year old Handsome would find it funny as well. Most boys are not into princess stories but this one had mean and smelly wart sisters so I thought, why not?!

The photos show a very large, female elephant who like Cinderella is not allowed to go to the ball with her sisters. Her fairy Godmouse turns her into a princess and she does go. The bored prince is very happy to see her until she has to rush out because the magic only lasts a few hours. Upon leaving she looses a very large shoe and the prince searches for her by finding someone who fits the shoe.

The Cinderella story stays intact but is very cute with a large elephant as our main focus.

Adorable story that I cannot wait to read to my daughter's class.

A Booster Seat That Fits In Your Bag!

Last week was Child Passenger Safety Week and what better way to get into the spirit than to talk about why my daughter is still in a booster seat!

Goddess is a tiny girl and I am driving a tiny car. She is only 40 pounds and under 4 feet tall so I have been keeping her in a  Booster seat much to her dismay because while she is embarrassed and wants to be like her brother, he is much, much bigger. She keeps asking if she can be without a booster when she is his age and I tell her that it has nothing to do with age. I think parents take their kids out of the booster seats way too quickly. Yes, it is easier to manage switching cars, you have more room without them BUT...none of that matters to me if the child is not safe. It is all about safety for me when my kids are in the car.

We recently found out about BubbleBum Inflatable Car BoosterSeat which was created with safety top of mind! Sounds like a seat for Goddess but I needed to know if it worked and meet all of the US safety standards before mentioning to my friends.

BubbleBum DOES meet all U.S. safety standards and has positioning clips to safely ensure the car seat belt is placed below the abdomen and soft tissue, addressing one of the most common injuries that children face. This past weekend my PBA Department held a car seat safety checkpoint at our ambulance corp and they were all quite impressed with the seat and the ease. Great alternative for the kids who are older but still need additional safety measures besides the seat belt.  It is lightweight and extremely portable, BubbleBum will make sure your most important passenger is safe in all cars.

All you do is untwist the cap and blow air into it. Turn the cap to lock the air and go.

Pros:

It is small
Completely portable (remove the air, fold into carry bag and go.
Light weight, I could fold this and put it in my pocketbook
Easy to use and lock into place with car seat belts
Reasonably priced

Cons:

I always get a mouth full of regurgitated air. Wish there was a way to push pump it up. What the heck am I doing wrong?

Bubble Bum on Facebook

We truly love this and it is perfect for my Goddess who was starting to get embarrassed when her friends asked, "you are still in a car seat?"

Disclaimer: We received a complimentary Bubble Bum for our honest opinion. No compensation was received.

A New Friend Joins Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood This Friday

On Friday, September 27, a new friend is coming to Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood in a brand-new episode of the critically-acclaimed animated series for preschoolers from The Fred Rogers Company on PBS KIDS (check local listings)! The show will explore an especially meaningful theme, one that was close to the heart of children’s TV pioneer Fred Rogers – that in some ways we are different, but in so many ways we are the same.

Meet Chrissie, Prince Wednesday’s 6-year-old cousin, who plans to visit the Neighborhood of Make-Believe frequently. Daniel really likes it when Chrissie comes around, because she is friendly, outgoing and knows how to use her imagination very well! Chrissie uses crutches as well as braces on her legs to help her walk. When asked about her disability, Chrissie proudly talks about the many things she’s able to do on her own, as well as what she needs help with. Chrissie’s matter-of-fact responses give Daniel, as well as young viewers, a wonderful opportunity to learn about someone who is different from a preschool perspective.

When you help your young child realize that differences are okay, you set the stage for them to appreciate diversity throughout their life. Here are some tips from The Fred Rogers Company and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood to help you reinforce with your own little “neighbors” at home that everyone is special in their own way!

·         Model Friendliness – Children learn from example and from the things we say. Help your children respect others by the way you greet people, talk with them, and speak about them afterwards.

·         Create a Family Book – Work with your child to create a book together about your family titled, “How We’re Alike and How We’re Different.”

·         Meeting New Friends Sit down with your child and talk about how it feels to meet someone new. Reassure them that we all can feel a little shy, scared or confused when people look or behave differently.

·         Value Differences – Arrange a small get-together with one or two other families. Each could make a snack that may be new or different to the others, possibly an ethnic food or one that's special to their family in other ways.
