I Wish You Enough by Bob Perks - A Book Review

Thanks to Book Sneeze, I was given the opportunity to review one of the most beautiful books I have read, both visually and written word.

I Wish You Enough by Bob Perks is truly an amazing book.  From the first few wordsI felt that this book was talking directly to me and I am sure that was Bob's intention.

"When having more leaves you
empty, you discover true
happiness lies in enough!"

Bob Perks

The cover of the dandilion blowing in the breeze is stunning as well as the photos that begin each chapter.

The Book Description from Book Sneeze:

Book Description

I Wish You Enough encompasses 8 values needed for true contentment and happiness, and transforms them into 8 wishes—or sentiments—for the reader. Through short, inspirational stories about everyday people, author Bob Perks reopens our eyes and hearts to the abundance all around that we so often take for granted.
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish you enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye."

In A Nutshell: I appreciate so much the blooming flower comparison in the first chapter. Bob mentions how the flower even with the threat of frost, winter, and more will keep striving, keep smiling, and reaching for the sun.   Imagine if we as people acted like flowers; no matter what turmoil, darkness, loneliness, fear, were to take over our life, imagine if you could see past it, and just keep reaching. It is an easy concept but as Bob states we are in charge of our own lives.

"Look at how much of your life is in your own hands. Work hard and reap the benefits. Live a healthy life and delay the inevitable. All the necessary resources are provided for you except the way you choose to think." Bob Perks

Basically, he is saying what I have said, for the past 10 years, (ask my closest girlfriends because it is how I get through each and every day), "If you choose to be happy, you will be. If you choose to see only the darkness and negativity, that is ALL you will see." Maria Gagliano

This is the first author that I have ever desired to sit down and chat with. His outlook on life is beautiful and inspiring. We have similiar ways of thinking. It wasn't always like that, but my faith in life is what gets me through my darkest days.

I Wish You Enough (Embracing Life's Most Valunable Moments One Wish At A Time) would make a great gift for someone or a wonderful present for yourself. Don't you deserve to be happy?!

The story that affected me the most, was probably the one that most people reading this book will remember. It is the reason for the title.

Bob overheard a girl and her father saying good-bye at the airport. They said they loved each other and the father said, "I wish you enough" to which the girl replied, "Daddy, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Daddy.

When he and the man started talking he found out that the man was saying good-bye forever. He was old and sick and because of the distance he knew this would be the last time he and his daughter spoke. Bob asked what he meant by, "I wish you enough." The man stated that it was a wish passed down from his family for generations.

"When we said 'I wish you enough,' we were wanting the other person to have a life
filled with just enough good things to sustain them," he continued and then
turning toward me he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory.

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much
bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish enough "Hello's" to get you through the final "Goodbye."

So my dear readers, I just want to say, I wish you enough!!!!!

When I finish my current title I'll have to see if this one is still available. It looks really heartwarming.

  2. Sounds like a beautiful book. Sometimes I need to be reminded that happiness is a choice, sadness is a choice, anger is a choice, etc.
