Memorable Mother's Day Gift Idea

Photobucket

This is the perfect Mother's Day book if you are looking for a gift that keeps on giving!

7 years ago as the mom of two babies under the age of 2 I decided to start a blog. It was my way of giving myself therapy while in the midst of a very lonely time. Husband work, no nearby friends or family and days that ran into days. Each day was exactly the same and the kids were so young that conversation was extremely limited.  This was why I started the blog but not what kept me going for 7 years.

Many readers know I lost my mom when I was 12. My dad left us when I was 13 and I moved out of my grandparents house the day I graduated high school.  I spent many years feeling very alone and it was only after my babies came along did I really feel the hole in my heart close up.

Being a mom is truly my favorite thing in life and I relish each and every moment, even when they drive me crazy. This is why I keep up with the blog. I often wondered who my mother was. What did she like? What did she think about? What were her fears? Her wishes? I long to know her personality. Not as a wife or daughter but as a woman.  The blog is something I know my kids will have, they will never wonder what I thought. It is all here. The good, the bad and the ugly.

Creating journals for my kids is something I had started before the blog. I called it Love Letters from Mom and wrote with different prompts.

For My Children: A Mother's Journal of Memories, Wishes and Wisdom is a beautiful gift that you can give to moms of any age. From first time moms at their baby shower, to moms who are now grandmas. They fill in the journaling and it is something you will have forever. Something you can read over and over again and pass down to their children. A real legacy for generations to come.

This collection of fill in the blanks lists, questions and queries is the easiest way to record thoughts to paper on questions such as:

  • What is the craziest parenting advice you ever received?
  • What are (or were) your favorite family recipes?
  • If life had a rewind button, what moments would you want to relive?
  • and so much more.

This is truly a beautiful tribute to one of the most important woman in your life. Plus who doesn't love talking about themselves. We moms love telling stories and this is something that can be cherished for years to come.

I love the pages which are largest enough to accommodate stories and pictures if you wish.  So far I am 5 pages in and loving leaving my thoughts for my children.

To all the moms out there reading, when someone asks what do you want for Mother's Day, tell them; For My Children from  Dionna Ford!

  1. I wish somebody had given a journal like this to my mom when I was born. What a wonderfully thoughtful gift, for Mom and especially for her kids! I love it. ♥

  2. Wonderful idea. I kpt a journal for my oldest son. It started with my first prenatal Dr appointment and I ended it on his first birthday. For my youngest son I kept a journal of his first 5 years. Then I started a scrap book of his elementary school years. My youngest is 14 & he already loves looking at these journals!
