Exclusive Op-Ed From a National Teacher of the Year, Sarah Brown Wessling

The Dos and Don'ts of Emailing Your Kid's Teacher
Navigating the school system can be difficult, but don't fret: Sarah Brown Wessling is here to help. Each month Sarah will offer insight into the classroom and share tips on how to help your child flourish in school.
Sarah says: I’ve had to do it too. Send an email to ask a question about my child or my child’s experience in the classroom. I’ve needed to ask a question about an assignment (that goes beyond “when is it due?") and I’ve needed to respond to finding out my child had a meltdown in class. But I’ve also been on the receiving end of these kinds of questions and concerns, which has taught me a lot about the kind of parent I want to be when these moments come up.
