How to Make a Private Oasis

An unfortunate reality of today's times is that recreational travel options are more limited as are many of your go-to local pastimes like going to the movies or spending the day shopping at the mall. This drastic shift in the flavor and variety of your daily life may have you feeling a bit thrown off, but creating your own backyard oasis can give you desirable recreation-time options.

Add a Pool

Though not a possibility for everyone, a backyard pool is an outstanding centerpiece for a backyard oasis. Depending upon your budget and space, options range from small, above-ground designs to multi-level, in-ground models with water features. You can compliment your pool with a lounge deck and outdoor lounge chairs, a pavilion or even a pool house for full-sun and shade options alike.  A variety of shade trees and hedges can help make your outdoor area inviting for curling up with a good book while adding privacy for your swimming activities.

Create an Entertainment Area

Adding a bar area to your backyard can be fun for the entire family. Kids love self-serve soda fountains, and you can add sparkling water options to keep your flock healthy. Adding night-time ambiance with outdoor string lighting and a cozy fire-pit transforms your oasis into a fun evening and nighttime area as well. Ending a fun day in the sun with a campfire cookout complete with smores makes for a terrific family memory. The addition of an outdoor tv or movie screen will easily make this area a family favorite.

Being restricted to staycations can seem tough when you work hard to earn those once-a-year escapes from real life. However, reallocating your vacation money to transforming your at-home outdoor area into an everyday oasis is money well spent, giving you a space to enjoy family and friends and make incredible memories.
