I Am Tired of Falling On My Ass!!!

Does anyone else have this problem?

I have a linoleum floor in my kitchen. Over the last 5 months simply walking into the kitchen has become a hazard.
It is old! Notice the tiny black holes where the nails are starting to come up!

Maybe it is the cleaner floor?
Maybe it is the cleaner I use?

Honestly, I have no idea what it is but I feel like dumping a gallon of milk on it just to make it sticky.

Today I researched slippery linoleum and found out that this is normal for linoleum floors. We had no idea.

The solution that I am going to try is:
  • Give the floor a good sweep
  • Give the floor a good wash
  • Give the floor a good rinse (this is the only thing I don't currently do). Maybe it needs an additional rinse.
After this, my next investment will be in a non-slip treatment.

My butt is killing me!!!!

Note:  By the way, this is by all means an invitation, for a flooring companies to contact me about redoing my kitchen floor.

  1. Definitely get some slip treatment. You don't want to really hurt yourself and break a butt bone or something.

I have hard wood throughout my home. Not even carpet, so slipping is here too, though not as bad.

    Linoleum kills. ;-)

  4. That is the cleanest floor I have ever seen... You have two children??? Do they eat in there?
How do you do that??? There is just me, Bill and Nano (and he eats stuff we drop on the floor) and we can't keep it that clean!
    YOU ROCK, mama!!

  5. I use a Swiffer on my floor (we have tile flooring.) Whenever I get angry about the high price of the Swiffer Wet refills, I buy the generic or the store brand--those tend to leave a nice sticky film on my floor! Maybe you should try those!

  6. Does the cleaner you use have ammonia in it? Many ammonia products are what they call sudsing ammonia and that will make your floor slippery, unless you rinse it off very well. That means you may have to rinse it two or even three times.
Take a peek and see if your cleaner has ammonia in it.
