Self Portrait Sunday - August 21, 2010

Oh, my poor little meme has never quite caught on. So sad. Funny, people just don't like taking pictures of themselves but when we are old and gray and have a lot of people pictures of obscure things what then. I much prefer to think I am going to live into my Golden Years and will cherish all photos of me looking younger and full of life's promise!

Got Dry Mouth? OraMoist Can Help

Thanks to Family Healthy Network I was able to participate in this campaign from Quantum Health.

What I Can Tell You:
As a child about 10 years old my 7 year old sister told me one morning I had bad breath. You know how they say that we have to be careful what we say because we never know how it will affect someone? Well, this is one of those cases. Something said by an innocent child to another innocent child has affected my entire life. I always chew gum and if I talk to someone, I tend to turn away from their face as not to be so close that they will be able to smell my breath. I am fanatical about breath wash and brushing my teeth so I was really interested in this OraMoist.

I have used these before, I opened the packet and read the instructions. Take out a tablet and place it up by your palate, on the side, pink side up. It will adhere to your mouth for 3 hours. Place it on your finger and place it on your palate holding it the recommended time (a few seconds).  It is not uncomfortable or hard to talk.  I run my tongue over it, it is so smooth. There was a very subtle lemon taste and dissolves in about 2 hours for me probably because I lick it all the time.

Memory Rewind - 2006

Here is your chance to use some of those older photos you have on your computer that you may have forgotten about. Post a photo and write a story about it.

Join me and bring back a memory.

Here is Handsome at 3 years old. We were on a class trip with his Pre-school  class. He started preschool very early, much earlier than I wanted for him.  He needed to start because he needed to be around his peers for all kinds of reasons. One of them was a speech delay, low muscle tone and tantrums. Grr....here is a post from his very first day of preschool.

The poor kid is only going into first grade but has had a form of education since he is only 23 months old. Between therapists and 3 years of preschool, Kindergarten last year, summer sessions up until this year with therapists I hope he really enjoys 1st grade. I have all the confidence in the world that it will be a good year. But looking back at some of my prior posts I believe there will be at least 1 situation.

Look at that face. I just really want to protect him and make sure he stays smiling.

Vampire Kisses Series by Ellen Schreiber

Vampire Kisses 07 – Love Bites

What I Can Tell You:
As far as a young adult book goes, this is exactly what young adults are looking for. This is the 7th book in the series but the first one I have read. I do wish I had started from the beginning. The main character Raven and her sexy hot "Eric Northman" but sensitive, sweet boyfriend Alexander (which consciendently is the name of the sexy, hot, tall glass of water actor who plays Eric Northman), anyway, I digress...

Volume 7 has Raven and Alexander hanging out in his families mansion with not much to do except hang out, look hot, and wait for the moment Alexander will change her so they can be together forever. Until Sebastian, Alex's childhood friend shows up looking hot and threatening to oust Alexander and bite Raven's best friend who he has crushed on.

The main characters are likable. Raven is smart and responsible and young girls will eat this book up!

Taking the Pen To Paper Challenge

Basically, this means I will be mailing a note card out every week instead of a quick email or Facebook blurb. Along with the note card I will send a blank note card for the recipient to use for their own use.

I am old enough to remember when letter writing was very important to me. After moving to Brooklyn from Millbrook after my mom passed away, and leaving all my friend, we would write long mult-page letters back and forth to tell each other what was happening in our lives. I remember the feeling of getting that letter in the mailbox and sitting down to devour 8-10 handwritten pages of information. In fact, I still have a lot of these letters in my storage/memory box.

Email, Facebook, MySpace, Texting, IM'ing have taken over where we used to write letters or even phone a friend. My birthday this year, I received over 35 greetings on Facebook but only 4 birthday cards. Weird right!!

If you plan on getting back to the personal art of writing to your friends and family, (something to be treasured for ages), check out Pear Tree Greetings, an online stationery company that loves to help people connect, whether it's via a personalized note card, Christmas Card or birth announcement.

Do you save the hand written notes you receive? I have trouble throwing personalized things away, especially letters and pictures

Here is my first note card which will be going out to my amazing friend Olga. She is beautiful person. Her heart is enormous. She and I worked together many, many years ago. I love her entire family and consider her youngest, a great friend. She is truly one of the nicest people I know. We haven't seen each other in 5 years. It is hard when she works two jobs and is taking care of her parents too! She will always hold a special place in my heart. She used to give me the most amazing gifts with little notes. One Christmas she gave me a Johnny Mathis Christmas CD because she knew that he was someone my mother loved (if you are reader of mine, you know that my mom died when I was 12). She wrote that only special people liked Johnny Mathis and that she and my mom would have been great friends.

I adore her!

Knowing her, she will write the note card I include back to me. That would be nice.

Goddess Is What Makes Me Happy?

This is so easy! What makes me happy? Being with my kids makes me happy and crazy at the same time.

These pictures of Goddess make me happy. She was a year old and the sweetest baby girl other than the 18 hours of screaming. Oh wait, that's a lie. By this time it was probably only about 6 hours of screaming and complaining that we had to endure.

Recently this photo was invited into three groups in Flickr. Funny, it has been there since 2006 yet on the same day, 3 different groups liked it.
