Fl-ow Fl-ow Cuuuttee

Yesterday I put my daughter in a pair of sandals that have a separate space for the big toe (there must be some flipping name for them but not having a shoe fetish I have no clue). I must have a friggin shoe thing.

This for some reason was one of the cutest things I have ever seen. She sat down on the floor and kept pointing to the flowers "fl-ow fl-ow." Yes sweetie, those are flowers. I do not have a shoe thing myself, but to see her in these adorable shoes made me crazy.

 

So cute it hurts....

Who know I had so much to say???

Just wanted to respond to a friends blog
I am not sure if I did something wrong but I really just wanted to respond to a friend's blog. I was told to sign up to which I did. I guess starting my own could be fun too. Hell, I keep up with two kids journals, and two kid baby books so why not write for myself too? Right now I am sitting on the couch, both kids are finally asleep for the moment; my husband is watching Black Hawk Down for the 20th time and I was going to just find something to read online. But, here I sit writing about nothing which is what most bloggers do anyway. Why anyone would be interested in reading this is beyond me but whatever. I could have ended this like 5 sentences ago yet, I keep on chugging with really nothing to say. Well, actually I have tons to say but I am too damn tired to get into it right now so I guess I will sign off with a promise to myself to keep on blogging. Later!

Quickies

• Baby sat today for a 10 month old strangers kid. Did it for the money don't really want to take time away from mine but hey..money is money and I am really good at the kid thing. He was sweet and I get him again tomorrow.
• Started a Flickr account
• My son starts preschool on September 7th. I called a local school, they gave me a significant reduction on the monthly cost due to my lack of funds these days and I couldn't turn it up. I think this will be really good for him but I am scared to death. I know this is really what he needs so I am game. He will have to go to school eventually so I may as well get used to it now.
• My husband started a night job two nights a week while we wait for his company to start turning a profit. It's hard to not have him here on those two evenings and I can't sleep until he comes home so I am living on 4 hours of broken sleep these days, down from 5-6 hours of broken sleep. I guess I'll sleep when I am dead.
• Love Big Brother All-Star - it is the only thing I religiously watch these days beside General Hospital.
• Rockstar Supervova has become my new guilty pleasure. I love it! Ryan Star and Dilana kick ass!
• I am enjoying being 40! Just a number man.
• My husband is awesome. He is a good husband, a great father and a wonderful man. He takes care of his family and I know that I can lean on him. I know that there is nothing that he cannot do and I trust him with my life and the lives of our children.
• Dude, what is up with this whole thing? Pluto is no longer a friggin planet. Stop fucking with my shit man!!! I guess I have to remove it from my son's ceiling light now. How friggin confusing. I guess my Trivia Pursuit games are obsolete now.
• John Kerr is a freak and whether he killed Jon Benet or not, he should be fried just for breathing.

Geez..while I have been away from blogging there has been some hoopla about the July BabyTalk Magazine because there is a picture of a mom breastfeeding on the cover.

I will never understand the problem with this. I am not sure if people have forgotten that the reason we have been given breasts in the first place was so that we could friggin feed our babies. They are not just fun bags to entertain men. They are actually living, breathing, fleshly, ready to serve, milk filled bottles for our offspring.

Breast feeding is not for everyone. I for one try not to feed my daughter in public but if I actually had to I would have no problem doing it nor would I run to find a bathroom stall (gross) to feed her. I am discreet and no one even has to know that she is eating.

How much longer am I going to breastfeed has become the question I feel I am constantly answering. The answer...I don't really know. As long as my daughter wants to! She will not be nursing past four that is for sure, and if she wanted to stop now I would be ok with that too. She is slowly weaning herself so I guess we will see. My son weaned himself at 10 months so it's anyone's guess.

I will never understand the controversy on some things. I have a live and let live attitude but that is just me. I think there are people who should stop smoking, stop talking, stop driving, stop drinking, stop shopping, stop cursing; I am not telling them to stop so why should I have to stop something I am doing? Something that doesn't effect their lives in any way.

Here's a big F you to anyone who thinks that seeing someone's breast as they feed their little ones is a problem.

If you don't like it...stop staring!!!

Happy Birthday to Me....

I am officially 40 as of 7:38 pm tonight. It is strange to think that 40 years ago my mom was healthy and a first time mom. What a beautiful day weather wise.

Today was fairly quiet but after yesterday that is the way to go..

My Birthday Luau yesterday was so much fun. There was me and 8 of my closet friends eating, drinking, and talking. I started cooking Friday night, and finished in the morning while my sister decorated my deck. Guests arrived by 2:00 p.m. and the party began. Being the first to reach 4o out of my peeps makes me feel older but hell what do they say these days? Something about 40 being the new 30?

My husband took (for the first time by himself) both kids out so that I didn't have to host and mother. That alone was a gift in itself. He need not get me anything.

Lordy, Lordy, Lordy...this chick is going on 40

As I mentioned on my last post I am planning my 40th Birthday party. While it hasn't consumed my every thought until this week, I have gone into Birthday mode in the past four days. The theme...Luau...the peeps...My Girlfriends.

I am pyched! In the past week I have completed the menu
Huli, Huli Chicken, Sweet and Sour Meatballs, Coconut Shrimp, Pineapple, Sweet Potato and Macadamian Nut Crumb top, Orange Lime Sauce for over the rice, Haupia (some Hawaiian candy type thing). Fruit Salad in a Pineapple, Green Salad, Coconut Cream Pie, and numerous type cookies and sweets, and enough alcohol to knock some chicks on their ass.

The drinks are
Pina Colada, Maria's Pinapple Punch, Maria's Happy Island Punch, Maria's Luau Punch...

I am providing grass skirts, leis, flower headbands, wrist bands, and such. I made name tags for everyone with their Hawaiian name. I think it is going to be a blast.

I have been working on a project to honor the women in my life and hope to complete it tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

I am making each of them a card with pictures of us, a paraghraph why they are important to me and cute embellishments. I hope they like them.

The card goes something like this...(this is my sisters)...

Tomorrow is my birthday so today I want to celebrate the women in my life. Each and every one of you are part of the mosaic that was, is, and will become Maria. I love you all for various reasons and for the same reason. You are all different and each and every one of you is important in my life. I am so happy I am celebrating my life with all of you.

Gabrielle – I could not breathe without you. You are my sister, my mother, my friend. I adore you! Our chats about our lives sometimes bring tears, sometimes bring conflict but they constantly bring laughter. Thank God we can laugh about our lives. Your quick humor and raw attitude make me love you every day. You have been there for me when I needed a shoulder, an opinion, or a laugh. You are one of the funniest people I know and also one of the bravest. I wish we lived closer because there are days I miss you like crazy. We can talk numerous times a day and still end every call with an “I love you,” I don’t know many people who can say that. Thank you for loving me. I am so glad that you are my sister but I love that I can call you my friend.

I am back..sort of

I've been so busy these last three weeks. I had my niece for two weeks which was really great. She is 10 and she was a humungo help to me with the kids. We went to the park, the library, for ice-cream, pool, rented movies. ..It was wonderful to have another person in the house to assist with diaper changes, dressing kids, getting two into car seats, etc. I am sorry to see her go home and hope to get her before school starts again. She loves posing and dressing up and I love taking pictures so here is my latest muse. Along with my new favorite pasttime Photshop. 

I have also spent some time organizing my 40th birthday party. More on that later. My kids had their first sleep out experience which was fun. My sister-in-law came in from California and she wanted to get all her nieces and her nephew together for an indoor camp-out. Fun! Fun. There was one room with ac so the girls all lined up on the floor and my two kiddies and I took over the bed. No sleep that night which is pretty normal for me but I usually get at least 5 broken hours this was like 2 broken hours of sleep. Won't be doing this again too soon. Some playdates, birthday parties, loads of swimming and family time. All in all summer has been great so far. Here we are at the end of a birthday party BBQ. We were all very done, we had melted in the sweltering high 90 degree heat chasing after our little ones but we are all still smiling so I guess that says something. I can't believe that we are already heading into August. Crazy! More to come....when I have a moment to breathe...

Big Brother All Stars Begins

Tonight on Big Brother we found out which boring peeps we will be watching this summer.

The twist this year is that there will be 2 HOHs and they must agree on who will be nominated for eviction. If they do not, the HOH will be put up.

The first competition for HOH was won by my favorite girl Janelle and Jase.

Danielle tried to stir up the pot by telling other house guest to try to get Janelle and Jase to disagree on nominations in hopes that this would get Janelle out of the house. She pushed the envelope a little too early in the game and ended up nomination along with Allison (thank God, I can’t stand that Allison chick!)

Note to Danielle – If you are going to attempt to ruffle some feathers make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

Mini Pool Party

Today I had a mini pool party for the kids and me. We emptied the pool of the 800 pounds of rainwater that made its way in there in the past four days. We fortunately dried out pretty well compared to some areas. This morning I got in the car with the kids and headed out with no destination in mind. We went to a park, then for a walk to a pet store. My son was loving checking out the fish, rabbits, birds and various other furry critter types. He spoke to a MacCaw name Sushi who basically says hello. On his first "Hello" my son said "God bless you" he must have thought he sneezed. After that he just kept repeating "hi bird, hello bird." The banshee girl on the other hand hated everything about the pet store so we eventually made our way to the door and I noticed a Party Store. We went there, I picked up a balloon for each kid, a ball and some invitations for my 40th birthday which I am planning for August 12th (more on that some other time). We got the kids a happy meal and myself an ice coffee and headed home.











With balloons, bubble machine and radio we headed to the deck for some pool time. The kids had a great time and I got to take more pictures (nothing better than that..I love me some pictures).





















Funny story - Whenever I nurse my daughter, my son comes over and says, "Baby eats" I always say "Yes, baby eats" and the conversation is over after he nuzzles her head for a moment. The other day he saw her nursing, he came over to say "Baby eats" but this time my daughter sat up because she heard his voice. He took my shirt, pulled it down over my boob and said, "bye eats!" Ha...I love kids, they friggin crack me up.

The past two days the kids and I spent our rainy day fingerpainting, dancing, singing, laughing, playing with Little People, running through bubbles and now I just want to pass out on my couch. Damn kids, I am too old for this shit!
