  28. A genetic time bomb in our DNA that could cause our bodies to simply give out - fascinating concept (rather than natural disaster, plague, or nuclear war causing our demise) of life after people!

  30. I think it would very interesting to see what a paradise earth would be if we were ever able to get rid of all these dang people! ;-)

  31. We watched this from our local library and it was definitely eye opening to see how much of an impact our being here has had on planet earth. I would love to own a copy of this film.

  32. I've always wondered what this would be like. I think everything would just purify itself eventually and other forms of life would go on.

    ReplyDelete
  33. This sounds interesting, I often wonder how long it would take for nature to obliterate all traces of mankind if people were no longer on earth.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I read the book "The World Without Us", anbd saw the first epdisode of this series. This is a fasciniating concept-it amazes me how quickly our "footprint" would vanish from the planet. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  35. From all I've seen about this movie it looks absolutely fascinating. I really want to see it that's for sure.

  36. Thinking of life after people is kinda scary. I hate to think that one day humans will no longer be around

    ReplyDelete
  37. The documentary was well done, basically about how if there were no humans left on the planet how the things we built would decompose over time and how long till no sign of us existing remained. The special effects were fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I have not seen this documentary but am intrguid. I think it would be fasanating to see how long it would take for buildings and things to deompose. Also it is scary to think about all the hazardous materials what it does to the earth after a long period.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Wooo Hooo Make me a winner!

    ReplyDelete
  40. You might think the prospect of no people on earth is scary but as I watched the first program and now the first episode of the 10 part series, I don't find it scary at all....if they delve into the problem of what happens to the human remains left behind, then I will be scared!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Most of the people I know try to do something to be more earth friendly. I think seeing this would encourage us all to try a little more, and perhaps motivate those who do nothing. It's not for us, people, it's for our children.

    ReplyDelete
  49. It looks like a very unique take on the future. I would love to see the whole thing

    jason@allworldautomotive.com

    ReplyDelete
  50. The series is wildly imaginative and beautifully produced, but what a bunch of sensationalisms. A pandemic disease may greatly reduce the population and the megacities will be abandoned in favor of a more agrarian lifestyle, but life will survive. Life may not be as most Americans new view it, but it wouldn’t change much for the vast majority of people currently living in the third world. So, the series if very entertaining, but far from reality.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I haven't seen this yet, but it looks pretty interesting. Kind of like I am legend

    ReplyDelete
  52. Very hard to even imagine something like that happening. But even worse would be being the last person left on earth. Now that would be scary.

Life After People sounds like a real possibility, considering the Earth's ever-changing nature AND the fact that the sun won't be burning and warming our planet forever. I guess the cockroaches short gestation period would work to their benefit. And, if the ozone layer thins, the alligators scales would be helpful. Theories from scientists would be insightful and possibly sobering.

  97. Among other things, I am an RN, so I know a bit about what goes on in Healthcare -- and the strange way the media is handling the current swine flu pandemic (haven't read much about it recently, have you) makes me shiver. Look outside, notice all the dinosaurs?? Extinctions happen...

  99. It's scary to think that we're all stuck here, crammed into and dependent upon this one lifeboat. All the graphic images from this show seem to imply no externally imposed catastrophe, like an asteroid impact, etc, but instead show all the buildings still (mostly) standing, decaying in place. Disease, apparently. Oh, joy.

    ReplyDelete
  100. My thoughts are that everything would be as it would be except mankind will be gone. This won't affect the evolvement and extinction of animals or insects...except maybe domesticated animals will become a wild strain.
