Dialogues With Goddess – The Interview

GODDESS IN TRAINING/GODDESS

Dialogues With Goddess – The Interview

copy-of-picture-3586.jpg
Today I asked Goddess what she wants to be when she grows up. I ask her this from time to time. The first time was last October that day she said she wanted to be a teacher. One other time she said artist. Today she just said, “Me.” Well, guess  that is really profound for a 2 almost 3 year old. Whatever she is going to be, she is going to be herself. I love that.
 Me: Are you pretty?
Goddess: No, I’m beautiful! (This is not the first time she has said this either).
Me: What is your favorite color?
Goddess: Pink. (She quickly changed that to purple). The last time I asked her her favorite color she did say purple so I am not sure if she forgot her favorite color or if she remembers the question from a couple months ago.
Me: What is your favorite animal?
Goddess: An elephant!
Me: What is your favorite food?
Goddess: Popcorn (she happened to be eating popcorn at the time of this interview)
Me: What is your favorite TV Show?
Goddess: Blue’s Clue’s with Steve. (I find it interesting that she added Steve to that answer, does she really think this is the name of the show? Or, does she really dislike Joe? Ummm….
I love this interview thingy with my kids…I am going to be very interested to see how their answers change and I can’t wait until I can add other questions.

Great Game for Family Night - Tell Tale Fairy Tales

Blue Orange Games Reinvents Story Time with Tell Tale Fairy Tales

The 411 by Maria & Goddess (7)

We received Tell Tale Fairy Tales 2 weeks ago and have not missed playing it yet. Goddess loves this game so much and spends most of the time laughing so hard that she ends up having to sprint to the bathroom.  She has a great sense of humor my daughter.

I digress, back to the game. With Tale Fairy Tales, you can make up the way you want to play or choose from the games described on the instructions like “ Round ‘N Round” where players cooperate to develop a communal tale and in “Storyboard” where you invent your story individually. Goddess and I prefer the collaboration. We divvy the cards up into two sets and make up the story as we go along. We take turns going first. Depending on the card, building the story around it. It may be a picture of a prince climbing a wall,  so we will start with; One day a handsome prince saw a tall tower in the middle of nowhere, after careful observation over a few days and seeing no one, he decided to climb up.  The next card may be a dragon with a heart above her head so the next person puts it down and may say something like, at the top of the tower he found a dragon who feel immediately in love with him and it goes from there. You never know how the story will come out because the cards and the player holding it will always be different. Our stories have been funny, sad, lovable, action packed, and sinister depending on the way the cards came up and how we were feeling at the time.

It is so much fun and I can't wait for our next play date to see how it will be with other players involved since it has only been the two of us so far.

This is not the Tell Tale Fairy Tales game but the original which is just Tell Tales but you get the idea.

Dialogues With Goddess 3-28-11

This morning as we were driving to school Goddess asked,
"What would happen to us, if something happen to you and Daddy?"

I told her not to worry and that nothing was going to happen to us but if something did,
"your aunt will take care of you."

She said, "I would want you to be there."

"I know, I always wanted my mommy there when I was little too."

"It's sad that your mommy isn't here. You should look in her mirror (now mine) and look for her. Maybe she will be there,"

*insert me freaking out*

"Ahhh, maybe, why have you ever seen anyone in the mirror?"

"No, but since it was her mirror maybe if you told her you want to see her, maybe she will come!"

Well, now, this is not the conversations I want to have with my daughter. You know, any that include me not being there for my kids, but now, the paranormal stuff...this is just too freaky.

Seeing something in a mirror is one of my fears. It is not something I have ever talked about but she totally freaked me out today! I know she is innocent and just almost 6 year old talking but, I was totally freaked out with goose bumps and all.

Things Heard From Goddess Today!

"I have butt hands want to smell!?" Ahhh no, thanks honey.
"Yes, you do! You know you do!"

Watching her dad play DS.
"Come on Dad, follow your dreams."

After he lost a game.
'You have to live with it."

Over the past month, after every sentence: "I didn't see that coming."

Over the past year, prior to every logical question: "Let me guess...." i.e. sees her dad getting his work boots on, "let me guess, you are going to work?" or I am standing at the sink and turn on the water and grab the sponge, "let me guess, you are going to wash some dishes" Grr...makes us crazy.

Over the past year after she asks a question: "I know that!" Grr...

But, then there is this face:

How could we stay mad at that?

By the way...bowling with a bunch of boys at a birthday party today! Using the "heavy" ball according to all the boys when she picked it up, got the only Strike of the game!  Woot! Woot! That's my girl! Came in second overall too.

I Love You Honey, I Really Do but My Bleeding Ears!!!!

IMG_4789

There is something so beautiful about the innocent of children. I love listening to the way they talk when they play. Goddess is one of my favorite people in the whole world. She just loves everything. She has wide eyed wonder that most of us lose along the way to adulthood. In Goddess' world everything is beautiful, sparkly, fun, interesting, and needs to be inspected ANNNNNDDD talked about.

I want to hear what she has to say believe me, I do. However, it is nearly impossible to have a thought when she is around. God forbid, I want to think about a conversation, something I have to do, something that needs to be paid or some other thing that crosses my mind at random moments when I want to not focus on the child. Focusing on the children is a priority. I want to experience, remember, talk about think about and mention to them everything they are doing and it is impossible for me to filter them out. When one of them speak, I hear nothing but them. Everything else goes right out the window.

Handsome has moments of talking too much, usually he is quiet, thinking about whatever Handsome thinks about. Goddess on the other hand, wants everyone to know her every thought. It is the age of self importance and man, this girl knows she is!

We must hear and acknowledge everything she says from the sky is blue mom, sometimes it looks yellowish but mostly it's blue what makes the sky blue? Some fish bite. Do any fish in our lake bite, because if they bite that would hurt and I wouldn't like that. I was just thinking about the park. Do you remember the park, and that time when I was three, and I ran and fell and you picked me up and the sky was blue and Handsome was crying because I was crying, and..and...and....the story goes on forever.

My least favorite is when I'm driving and listening to the radio for a split second, like the song, get into the words, but then....Goddess chimes in...

Goddess: Mom?

Me: Yes!

Goddess: Mom, when we get home..when we get home...

Me: uh huh!

Goddess:Mom...when we get home can I play on your computer.

Me: We'll see, first go to school and when we get home we will talk about it.

Goddess: Because I haven't played for a very, very long time and I really, really want to play. Sometimes, when I play, I play for a long time, and sometimes when I play, I play for a short time but you don't always let me play, why don't you let me play? I promise to be careful with the computer and not break it, because I know if I break it, we won't have a computer, and I know that it is yours but Mom, I really, really want to play, can I play when we get home?

Me: We'll seem, OK honey.

Goddess: Ok, but I really, really want to play.

In my head: SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!

I mean really! Can I just have a moment in my own head with my own thoughts? This week, I plan on spending 30 minutes, alone with my own thoughts.

How do you block your children's voices out?

Goddess Talks Weddings and Mothering

Dress up
This weekend I did the clothes transition. You know put Fall and Winter away and take out Spring and Summer. Goddess decided to put on a dress that was in her bin. We get a lot of hand-me-downs so I don't remember whose dress this was but it has been waiting in a bin marked 4T-5T.

She walked around all day in this dress and communion veil that has been sitting in her dress up bin.  She pretended to walk down the aisle and called this her "bride dress" to her father's dismay. He kept telling her that she was "breaking his heart" and that she was "way to young" to think about marriage. He told her that she should have a career first.
While I totally agree with him, I find it hysterical that girls instinctively get into this whole wedding thing even with parents who don't talk about it. She has never been to a wedding. We don't know anyone who is getting married right now and I have never showed her how to walk down an aisle yet she does it in my living room holding a flower in her hands and her eyes closed. Not sure what the whole closed eyes is but she also does this when she holds "potential snacks" up to me.  She walks over, closes her eyes, puts her chin to her chest and holds out her hand with the snack she wants. I asked her once why and she said, "I don't want to see you say no."

Today, I showed her the picture I was about to put on the blog talking about her "bride dress" and she said, "I am sorry that you lost your mommy when you were young. Maybe when I grow up, I can be your mommy."  Awww...too cute. I gave her a hug and told her that I would like that. I guess she is talking about the days that she is changing my Depends and feeding me soup. Who knows?!

Quotes By 4.5 Year Old Goddess

If you are a reader of this blog, you know how amazing I think my daughter is. I often joke that this is not her first time around. She has been here before. She knows to much. I knew it the moment she was born. They handed her to me and I said, "You know everything. You know all the secrets." I could see it in her eyes. She was a smart cookie.

A few months ago she said had something to say about heaven. Here it is.

Today, she had something else to say; I was rubbing some cream on her after her shower and she let me rub her back. She lied on the couch and I messaged her. She said, "That feels good in this world, but not in the other world."

I said, "what other world?"

She said, "the one up there, in outer space."

Ummm....

I don't know people this chick freaks me out sometimes. Like this past weekend when she was sitting on the living room floor playing with her toys and I was reading on the couch. She stopped talking for her toys and said, "Mommy did you just call me?"

I told her no.

She said, " You didn't just say, "God-dess?" (not her real name and now what she asked but go with me here).

I said, "Did you hear someone say your name?"

She said, "yes" and continued playing.

This was the day before my husband told me he heard running upstairs when he was in the basement but there was no one home. Weird!

Heard From The Goddess Front This Week

I am not going to call it a hippopotamus anymore, I am going to call it a rainbow-monomous because I am coloring it in rainbow.

I look awfully beautiful today!

If we run over that squirrel, we will crush his animal skeleton body.

Ohhh, that gave me quite a fright!

Do animals have hearts and lungs? I know they have skeleton bodies but how about the rest?

Goddess Quotes Heard This Week

"I guess I got carried away."

"You hurt me with your ring when you hugged me and said, awwww"

"I wish I had a little duck that said, Mommy."

"I am so happy that I read that book all by myself." (it was the Pledge of Allegiance book and since she knows the Pledge she assumes she read the book).

"Can I wear those long earrings when I get bigger mommy? And when you want them back, you just say, "I want them back. OK"

"My eyes hurt, I guess they are mad at me."

"Jehovah, Jehovah, Je-hooooooo-vah!"

"Are you mad at me?"

"Want to sing a beautiful song with me?"

My daughter was telling my son whose mother I am.

Goddess: No, I am going to my mom. Not your mom, my mom.

Goddess: Right, mommy...you are my mom and not his?

Mom (me): No, honey..he is my baby too.

Goddess: No! Why do we need him???? Mom, why do we need Handsome????

Mom (me): Why do we need him?

Goddess: I don't want him.

My Baby Girl Makes Me Laugh

I want to write down a bunch of things that I should remember about my baby girl. She is just 3 and we already know we need to always be at least 5 steps ahead of her.

These days when she hugs me she says, "Mommy, you my friend." Love it.

When she says good-bye to someone she adds a quick hand to mouth (blew me a kiss) gesture. Not sure where she got that from.

She is a mega manipulator and will probably be a lawyer when she grows up. This morning she asked for cookies for breakfast. Because she knows this is a definite "NO" I chose not to respond to her at all. We have gone down this road of wills and I was tired this morning. When I didn't answer she turned to her brother and said, "Handsome, do you want black and white cookies?" He said "yes." She looked at me and said, "Mommy, Handsome wants cookies. Grrr...

After the bus ride yesterday, each kid was given a pencil case with an eraser school bus in it. Handsome loved it and held onto it all night. In the morning while watching TV he put it on the floor, Goddess ran up, snatched it and said before running off, "You'll never find it now."

I actually had to walk away to snicker because the only thing missing was a devious laugh at then end.

Another thing she is doing, and maybe it's a girl thing, but she is constantly telling me, "Mommy, so and so doesn't like me. Like when she says something to someone at the supermarket, gas station, McDonald's drive through or the like and they don't respond. The other day when her Dad was giving Handsome a bath and asked her to close the door so Handsome didn't get cold. When someone doesn't want to play, share, or hold her she says they don't like her. It's so sad and cute.

She also tells me everyday, "Mommy, I am going to get bigger!" Her dad and I tell her yes, she will and that we want her to take her time. Aaargghh she is going to get bigger?

Interview with Goddess 5 minutes ago.

What do you want to be when you grow up? A Girl.
What is your favorite color? Green and Orange.
What is your favorite animal? An Elephant.
Who is your best friend? Handsome.
What is your favorite show? Little Bill.
What is your favorite food? Bacon.
What is your favorite snack? Fruit snacks.

She is a natural born model/actress and it scares the crap out of me. The pictures above are my favorites of 25 shots I took of her consecutively in 2 minutes. She just kept changing her pose and her facial expression without coaching. Crazy!
