Goosebumps 2 Viewing Party Plus Our Science With Slappy and More Video

If you are a fan of R.L. Stine's Goosebumps you know that Slappy always has a plan and it is always "evil". We are Halloween fans so while we don't find him wanting to make Halloween last forever evil, we enjoy Christmas too and feel there should be a Slappy/Happy balance.

My daughter is not a reader but thankfully she loves Goosebumps and we are thrilled to be part of this challenge to defeat Slappy's tasty minions the Gummies. We watched the movie last night and had no idea how the Gummies were involved and now that we know we totally get why we were provided 100 bags of Haribo Gummies for the challenge.

Watch us open the Challenge Box and get ready for our viewing party by making Gummy Bear Slime who knew you could make slime with Gummy Bears? We didn't!

It was so easy and only uses three ingredients:

Haribo Gummy Bears
Powered sugar
Corn Starch

Melt the gummies, add powered sugar and corn starch and work it until you have slime. The best part of this slime is that you get to eat it when you are done.

 
Next we had fun with Science with Slappy where we used 4 different liquids, added a gummy bear and waited until the next morning to see what happened to the gummy bear.  We love Science and spending time together so we thoroughly enjoyed this and trying out the gummies when they were soaking?

Lastly we made Holiday Gummy Bear Bark that was delicious. We had to do it twice because everyone eat it right after we made it. Hopefully the next batch will be around for others to enjoy.

 
The recipe called for milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate and gummies. We realized after we started melting our white that the chips must have been old because we couldn't get them to melt. Has anyone else ever had this trouble?  It just kept getting lump and eventually turn a little brown so we just did more milk chocolate.

YUMMY I am craving it now. We are going to add coconut to our next batch.

This Christmas my niece is coming up and really wants to see the movie, so we are going to make some more slime, Slappy's thumbprint cookies with gummy bears and Gummy Bear Mocktails using Sparkling apple cider, gummies and colored sugar on the rim! I can't wait

Our Movie Review:

We thoroughly enjoyed this one as much as the first. There are so many really cool effects that we sat on the edge of our seats. In fact, it was even better the second time around because we already knew the story and could focus more on the outrageous things that really worked in this movie.  The friendship of Sonny and Sam, Slappy who really just wants to be part of a family is annoyingly creepy with his little suit and been stored away too long face, the green glowing witches, the Halloween costume masks that sprout legs, a history lesson about Nikola Tesla, the huge "Stay Puff marshmallow balloon spider, the gummy army! OH man there is so much to talk about. It just works. It is a fun movie that kids and adults will like and we will be watching for a third time on Christmas Day with my niece who can't wait to watch with us.

About The Movie:

When Sam and Sonny unknowingly unleash Slappy onto their town they must work together with Sonny' sister Sarah to take him and all his minions down.

My daughter and I particularly love that these kids are not dumb! Sarah is trying to get into Columbia University and Sonny is doing a project on Tesla. We also love that Sarah kicks some major butt. We respect that Sam and Sonny are entrepreneurs and have a Junk Brother's business which is how they end up finding Slappy in the first place and that the way Slappy gets his revenge on Sonny's bullies is fairly innocent.

This is a must see for kids 9+!

Some Last Minute Book Gift Ideas

 I love giving books as gifts and this year I am giving 8 books to family members including myself. Shhhhh! It will be wrapped up from Santa. 

 

The 411: 


My kids loved the book The Monster At The End of The Book as does my preschool class. It is a classic and so funny. This book is just as good and will be a classic. Grover tries so hard to make sure Elmo doesn't get to the end of the book but what fun is that? It has to happen right?!

My kids love the flaps and flips that make this book interactive and come on kids just love Elmo! There is a lot of fun between these pages. I love the clasp just to get into the book.

The 411:

This is a stunning book and while there are only 10 pages, girls will love the beautiful scenes. The Ballerina stars in the center of each pop up and while it is a short book it is very pretty.

This book is beyond cool. We are huge Star War fans. My husband will be getting this book for Christmas so he can put the Millennium Falcon together. He has been a fan since a small boy and will love this. The price on this book is amazing too. I was really impressed.

I love this book and cannot wait to sit down with my daughter and fill out the pages as we read about these amazing women. I love the quirkiness if the illustrations along with the fascinating stories of these influential women in history.

Paint Sation Is A Parents Dream For Those Artist Toddlers

OMG kids I have an artist in my house and I know the pain of spilled paint, glitter and loads of pictures on the fridge.  Paint-Sation is every parents’ dream come true, paint that won’t spill or make a mess! Even if children turn the pod upside-down, the paint won’t drip out. Children simply touch their brush along the specially-designed bristles, and they’re ready to paint. I so wish this was around when my Goddess was little. In fact; she loves it even at 13 years old.  See her artwork below. 

This table top paint station comes with an easel that is easy to put together. Only 3 separate parts. It also comes with red, blue and yellow paint, paper and 2 brushes. 

The paint fits right into the frame and even though it is tilted in the easel it doesn't spill. This is crazy! 

When I told my 13 year old that after this review I was bringing it into my class for my preschoolers she was bumped. She has a real, wood, expensive easel but she loved little table top one with the paint that doesn't spill. My preschool class is going to love this. I cannot wait of them to try it.

The paint in this kit is also washable. Hello..can we ask for anything more? I doubt it.

Goddess thinks kids will love this because it allows them to be independent. They can set it up quickly by themselves, open the paint, there is even a place for your paint brushes. I still think kids need supervision when using unless you know for sure you child will not take the paint to everything in your house. I know a few of my students who wouldn't totally stick their fingers in this paint and take it to everything but you need to know your kids. My own kids would never have done that.

Encourage them to paint, draw, anything that gets them off electronics and creating.
