Wednesday Weirdness on Thursday

1.) What condiment goes best with french fries? The Mighty Ketshup

2.) What condiment do you feel best represents your personality? Mayo, It's white, high and fat and bumpy.

3.) If the love of your life was a different religion from you, would you convert for them if they asked you to? No! I don't think you should ever change who you are for someone. If you find yourself drawn to their religion and want to then by all means do.

4.) What is your favorite thing to eat with peanut butter? My Finger

5.) If it were possible, would you want to know the day you were going to die? No friggin way!

6.) If you could change your eye color to anything in the world you wanted, what would you change it to? No. My eyes are the color they are because of my parents DNA. I would change nothing. Well, I would love to be a little taller. I'm not fat, I'm just short. Stretch me out and I would look damn hot. Watch out!

7.) Are you more often the partner in crime or the good conscience with your friends and family? In my early twenties I was the partner in crime. Now I am the good conscience. We all have to grow up sometimes.

Thursday Thunks

1. What was the last thing you ate? A Rachel Yogurt (Vanilla Chi)

2. I say the color purple.. what do you think of? Grapes

3. Lamps or ceiling lights? Whichever as long as I can see so I don't stub my friggin toe.

4. What color rabbit is your favorite? Grey and why do you want to know? Don't you bring no friggin bunny to my house for Easter!

5. Your car breaks down on a deserted road and your cell phone has no signal - what do you do? Freak out, then grab my handy dandy jet pack and head home.

6. What is one thing most of your friends do online that you just can't understand the fascination and do not participate in? Facebook! I just don't have the time to keep up with it. That and those damn forwards, if it ain't dirty don't bother sending.

7. What do you need right now? A hug. Wahhhhh

8. And your most serious injury you've had was....? (Bringing my arms behind my head, interlocking my fingers and putting my feet up), a swimming accident when I was about 13 years old. It wasn't good and I am lucky to be walking. Nuff Said!

9. What is the most evil thing you've ever done? Me, Evil! Nevah! Oh wait, that's a lie....I gave my driving instructor a false number so he would pass me and give me a license. Poor Schmuck didn't stand a chance.

10. Give us some random fact about you: I called into the Opie and Anthony Show once and got on the air. Unfortunately none of my friends were listening, so it is just one of those stories I get to answer for random questions.

Flowers Save The Day

This morning I typed up a post about my day of rememberance and mourning with a smile on my face.

I felt really good and wanted to remind myself in the future, (sounds like a scene from Lost or Back to the Future) that I had been able to handle April 8th well in the past.

Did you ever have one stupid comment, from someone important to you, ruin your entire mood? I am sure you have. We can really only be hurt deeply like that by the people we love.

I thought I was in a good place, and that I was mostly letting silly, unimportant, ridicuoulus and sometime hurtful comments roll off my back. Today, I was unable to let something go. It ate at my core until I just wanted to crawl inside myself and get this day over with.

My bible study was scheduled to come at 4:30 and up until 4:10 I considered keeping the appointment. I called and canceled thinking I would be unable to put on a happy face for someone and sit through the reading.

They were extremely understanding when I told them why the day was a hard one.

About an hour later I was on the phone with my sister when my son said there was a car in the driveway. Then my call waiting rang and it was my bible study group Eliesha and Chelsea telling me they left something by the door. I went out to find this.

I love getting flowers, they are like chocolate and make everything better.

Bible passage they suggested:
Romans 15:4 (New International Version)

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Ahhh....feeling lighter already!

Mourning with a Smile!

April 8, 1978 - My Mother Died
April 8, 1991 - My Grandmother Died
April 8, 2009 - I am getting through the day with a smile and a song in my heart.

Some years this date is too much to bare. This year, good friends and family make things seem that much lighter.

Last night a new friend told me she loved me, this morning another friend called Life on Record for my daughter and left a really beautiful message, "Your mom is an amazing women." How did she know I needed to hear that today? It is what I hope my mother thinks of me. Then another friend text asking "what are you doing" on her 15 minute break. She has 15 minutes to herself and she texts me?

Just now my daughter came over with her fingers in the shape of a heart and said, "does this make your heart happy."

This was all done without me saying what today is!

Today's motto: Enjoy life and everything it is! Life is a blessing.

Goddess is Turning 4 and I am Getting Old

My baby girl is turning 4 in less than 10 days. It absolutely freaks me out. My baby is going on 4!

No more babies in this house now that little miss is getting bigger. Well, bigger is relative here because she is still a tiny little thing. Her petite size makes her seem younger than she is but she is so bright that it shocks people sometimes.

Here is my post from 1 year ago about Goddess turning 3. There are so many changes that I would have forgotten about which is why I love this whole blogging thing.

I was asking her body questions the other day since she is currently amazed with the body (organs and skeleton).

Me - Why do we have eyes?
Goddess - So we can see!

Me - Why do we have feet?
Goddess - So we can walk!

Me - Why do we have bellybuttons?
Goddess - So we can put our fingers in them!
Me - Ahh...ok!

Me - Why do we have ears?
Goddess - So we can hear!

Me - Why do we have hearts?
Goddess - So it can pump the blood through our body!

Me - Why do we have vagina's?
Goddess - So we can put our fingers in them!
Me - Ahh...no...our fingers don't belong there.
Goddess - I like it!
Me - Ahhhh...ok...

If you don't like the answer, don't ask the question right????

The Simple Women's Daybook

For Today...It's April 6, 2009

Outside my window... Grey, Rain, Nasty!!!

I am thinking...What a lovely day I had yesterday and how I wish I could bottle that feeling for days like this when it seems like a very distant memory.

From the learning rooms... Vlogs are video blogs. I kinda thought so but I wasn't sure.

I am thankful for... keeping my sanity even when it feels like it is hanging by a thread.

From the kitchen... chicken, yogurt and flax seed taste wonderful together.

I am wearing... my comfy jeans and a cream short sleeve sweater.

I am reading... Artie Lange, the bible and Twilight (for the second time)

I am hoping... that the weather cheers me up tomorrow.

I am creating... a CD for my daughter's 4th birthday

I am hearing...General Hospital in the background, my kids playing and my husband's grunts as he works out.

Around the house... Things are feeling lighter in the midst of spring cleaning. 3 more rooms and I am done.

One of my favorite things... listening to my daughter and son talk nicely to each other.

A few plans for the rest of the week...getting more emails, still looking for a job, fill out some applications, get taxes done, shop for Easter and try to make my daughter's birthday more special.

Here is a picture I would like to share with you...

Sunday Stealing - Blogging

1. How did you come up with your blog title OR what does it mean? My blog title used to say Maria's Space, a little place to call me own. When you are married and a mom, there is nothing that is yours and yours alone. My blog is mine, all mine. {insert sinister laugh} Bwahahahahahah....

2. What are your general goals for blogging? I started it as a legacy for my children. A way for them to know who I was long after I am gone.

3. Do people “in your real life” know that you blog and do they comment on your blog OR is it largely anonymous? Everyone knows I blog because hell, I'm a blogger!!! Do they comment? No! I barely know if they read it.

How often do you post (x per week)? Every single day on my main blog. My secondary blogs are sadly being ignored.

4. How often do you read other blogs (x per week)? I try to read daily a few of the ones I frequent but I am always adding new reads to my list.

5. How do you select blogs to read (do you prefer blogs that focus on certain topics or do you choose by tone or…?) I love all blogs! Bloggers are so creative.

6. Do you have any plans to copy your blog entries in any other format, 0r do you think that one day, you’ll just delete it all? I always copy my posts. Usually every 3 months I make sure I have them backed up. My goal is to create books for my children of any posts that talk about them.

7. What are the things you like best about blogging? Saving memories for the future. I love re-reading some of my posts especially when my babies were babies. There is so much you forget. Sometimes re-reading them makes see how creative I can be. I don't notice it when I am writing it but sometimes I am pretty witty.

8. What are the things you don’t like about blogging? There is nothing I don't like. Even negative comments which I have only had about a particular book I didn't love were interesting (see post and comments here).

9. How do you handle comments? Usually I try to comment back on my site and by email if their comment comes to my inbox from an email address. I also try to head over to their site to lend some comment love back.

10. Do you have any burning thoughts to share on blog etiquette? When I am hosting a giveaway, I would love if people followed the rules. I hate disqualifying someone.

11. Any desired blog features? I would love to have a search feature on my page. I also wish I could consolidate all of my readers, followers onto one widget.

12. Have you suffered blog addiction? In the first year I read a lot of blogs but now I have blogging down to a science. It takes me no time to get my posts up and often I draft a bunch of stuff and get it ready for posting.

Great Easter Basket Idea

Looking for something different for your little one's Easter basket this year?

This week I played a new Nintendo DS game called Littlest Pet Shop - Spring.

I suggest you hop (tee hee) on over and get one.

It was great! This was my first Nintendo DS game and I loved the whole experience. Nintendo's DS is completely awesome and I could become addicted to having that little hand held contraption with me at all times...but onto the game.

In a Nutshell:

The characters are just like the toys and your little one will love watching their favorites coming to life, playing games and hello..... accessorizing. Dressing their animals up where my nieces favorite part of the whole experience.

The game is rated E for everyone and my 5 year old had no problem playing and understanding it. My 4 year old daughter couldn't play and got frustrated unless I was right there but she hasn't played any electronic games before I just wanted to see if she could. This game made me feel like a happy 8 year old. In fact, I was totally a kid while playing this game which is good for your psyche. If your kids love the Littlest Pet Shop toys, they will absolutely love game. I have a soft spot for the little dwarf bunny. So cute with their big, watery eyes! BTW...the games are fun and easy. My personal favorite was Remember Me but my son really loved taking care of his pet.

Mommy, Who is That Beautiful Voice?

In the car, today there was a version of Disney's A Whole New World from Aladdin on Radio Disney. I have no idea which version it was but the girl's voice was very high and very sweet like a Disney movie. When it was over Goddess asked, "Mommy who is that beautiful voice?"

I told her it was from the movie Aladdin and that we have it at home. I hope to pull it out today and watch it with her. When she says things like that I feel a subtle tug on my heart strings that remind me of just how happy I am to be a mommy!

Product Review - Tie Buddies

When Family Review Network requested reviewers for this awesome product, I just knew I had to try them. My son has been in OT for the past 3 years. Tying shoes has been a problem for a while. Teaching children without coordination issues, to tie their shoes is hard enough, teaching someone who cannot get his hands to work the way they need to, is excruciating for both of us.

We still have a way to go but these Tie Buddies will definitely help. Tie Buddies removes the bunny ears method which is really confusing to children. BTW..I have never been able to do the bunny ear method myself. I am heading out next week to get my 3 year old daughter a pair of lace shoes, so I can begin teaching her.
