The Saturday Special

1. While driving home from a ride in the countryside, you happen to spot a large Victorian type old-fashioned general store at the end of a side road. Thinking it might be nice to buy something to take home, you drive up the long driveway and can't help noticing that the town appears abandoned. There is not a single person in sight. Not a car, not a animal, funny but you notice that you don't even hear a single bird chirping.

2. Parking the car anyway, you walk up the steps to a big front porch that wraps around the building. Upon reaching the door, you notice that it is cracked open and appears to have been that way for quite some time. You brush aside the multiple cobwebs that have crisscrossed the entrance and walk through.

3. Once inside the store you wander around and up the four floors and can't help but notice you are the only one there except for a few strange looking headless mannequins.

4. Finally leaving the general store, you remember to remind yourself that you work at a movie set and this is a really big sound stage. You head home weary and ready for a week worth of sleep.

Weekend Snapshot

Here is my Weekend Snapshot. This is how you will find my son at least 2.5hrs a day this week. With school starting I let him start playing again. He hadn't played in about a month.

He stands up the whole time. I love playing XBox but doubt that standing would be the way.

I went Friday Meme Happy!!!!

Aloha Friday from An Island Life this week asked:

Do you focus more on the past, present, or future? I focus on the present. One thing my husband has taught me is to focus on what you can change now. Many years ago, I spent most of my time worrying about the future, it isn't necessary to waste time and energy on something that might or might not happen.

This week I wonder: Where is Biden? The news has makes me crazy. Sarah Palin isn't running for the presidency yet she has more coverage than anyone else right now. I just want to know where Biden is? The presidential coverage has focused on Obama, Palin and McCain so where is Biden????

Come join the Friday Fun

1. You are in an adventurous mood. Do you go deep sea diving or sky diving?Any idea where you would like to do it? Well, if I had a moment to train I would probably go deep sea diving with my camera encased in a high tech water casing so that I could get some pictures of natures colors below the surface. I would go to Bali.

2. You just won an all expenses paid trip to anywhere in the world. Do you go to Japan or to France? Why? Ummm...I am not a traveler especially outside the united states. Mostly because I am petrified of flying. If I had to chose one I would chose France. No reason!

3. You meet a stingy genie that will only grant one wish. Do you wish for more money or a better body? Why? Oh more money, more money, more money. Especially these days!!! Money is extremely tight all over but we have struggled for 3 years now. Being self employed isn't everything it's cracked up to be.

4. You have $50 burning a hole in your pocket. Do you head to the book store or to a spa? What would you get? Oh hell, I would head to a book store. I don't have the patience to sit for a spa treatment.

5. It is time for a caffeine jolt. Do you go for the coffee pot or for the soda? Any favorites? I don't drink soda so Coffee is the way for me.

3. What song would you want played at your funeral? She's The Spirit In Me by Mother Station. Or Angel by Stevie Nicks

4. In lieu of flowers, what should loved ones do in your honor? Oh hell no, I want flowers. I didn't get many while alive so bring on the blooms!

5. What unfinished business would you wrap up?
I would make sure that my kids, husband, family and friends knew how much I needed them in my life and what they have meant to me. I have no unfinished business.

Friday 5 for September 12: No Way! Way!
This Week's Friday 5
  1. Who lets you have your way more than you should? Not a single person!!! Wahhh..
  2. According to the cliche, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but what’s the way to yours? Spending time with my kids. The moment my husband gives the kids his attention for more than 10 minutes I am unbelievably in love all over again.
  3. What’s something that should have been put away but hasn’t been? Probably stuff that I want to post on Ebay. It takes up wayyyyy too much space in my bedroom and it will probably never get on there.
  4. When did you last weigh yourself? 3 weeks ago.
  5. What do the cops in the donut shop say? oh ay oh, ay ohhhhhh.

1. I enjoy just being with my husband and my kids.

2. What kind of adults my kids will be is something I wonder about often lately.

3. In your heart, you knew there is good in every one.

4. Take love, add a little one and you end up with a family.

5. Life has gifted me with friends, children and love.

6. Taking a shower with the door closed is an instant vacation.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to spending time with the hubby, tomorrow my plans include taking the kids to the park and Sunday, I want to fly a kite.

Photo Friday - Relationships

The relationship I try to instill in my children is one of friendship and respect. My dream is that they want each other in their life long after they are forced to be together.

Sky Watch Friday

They passed the limits of imagination Through the door to the world of another time And on the journey of a thousand lifetimes With the children of the sun, they started to climb - Billy Thorpe
It was a very hot day at the park. I looked up and my son was talking to one of his friends below. I snapped tada.

The Goddess's 2nd Day Of Pre-School

Tuesday was the Goddess' very first day at pre-school and she did fab!

Mom on the other hand was a bit of a mess.

I can't say I was worried, just a little melancholy that my baby was going to leave me for 2.5 hours, two days a week.

Her dad and I were sure that she would have fun, we also were sure that she wouldn't miss us, her brother is in the same place so they would have each other.

From the moment she woke up at 7:00 she was ready for school. She wanted to get dressed right away and we had to keep reminder her that school wasn't open yet.

She asked about 15 times before 9:00 "can we please go to school now."

Unfortunately it rained so I was unable to get any good pictures of her going in. I took some but I am not happy with any. My husband was with us and I always feel silly whipping out the camera every second.

Bad Mommy moment - I had promised her that she would be getting a balloon. We had brought one on Monday for her brother's first day and she asked for one the whole day. I promised her that I would get her one on HER first day. Since it was her first day, I refused to leave town. Honestly, I doubt I will be leaving for the next 2 months).

I walked into the class and both my kids ran over to hug my legs and say hello. My son was first, followed by the Goddess. Her first words...."Hi mommy, where's my balloon?"

We did go out to get one right after but how awesome would it have been if I had walked in with it???!!!

Here are the few I did manage to get.

Heading to school in the pouring rain.

Dropped off, took pictures and she sat right down to play

Finally, getting a balloon.

Product Review - Maiden Amerca Can You Ever Have Too Many Hair Clips?

I'm going to start this post with a question and the obvious answer:

Can You Ever Have Too Many Hair Clips? Not, if they are Maiden America's

I was honored to received a package of the most beautiful hair clips this mom has ever seen.

(Here is my daughter opening up her amazing package of barrettes)

The company Maiden America (Even the name makes me want to buy), specializes in non-slip barrettes, for pin straight hair. The clips are all beautiful and my daughter was ecstatic when I told her to chose some clips.

My daughter has medium hair, however, it is pin straight and because she is active most clips hold but in an hour of her bopping around have worked through the hair to the bottom and finally lost.
(Our Collection so far the ribbon was from Maiden America also)

Since using Maiden America's clips; we have not lost a single clip in 7 days. These clips don't budge and also my daughter can't take them out. This is a God send for this mom whose little one is always removing her clips and running around like a crazy girl. A friend of mine came over and my daughter showed her the clips. She is always talking about the things that she can make. She took the clip and right after she said, "I can make this" upon sight. She followed up with "these are really good clips! I have to get some for my dog." Yes, these clips would work great for your pretty dogs too!

Not only are all of the clips beautiful they are also gentle on the hair. The piece that makes them non-slip keeps the hair away from the metal of the clip.

I wish I could wear them!!

(The first day she got them she just had to wear all of them-we love the ladybug ones).

The brain child behind this amazing invention is a mom, homeschooler, blogger, and all around wonderful person.

Maiden America also sells adorable handbags, head bands, clutch bags.

(She wore them on her very first day of pre-school too)

Where Does Attitude Come From???

I have so much to write about. My daughter, Goddess started school on Tuesday more on that later.

The reason for this post....

Today, Goddess had her second dance class. She did fab! I was so proud watching her and her class take direction. She was at one point told to go first, after they had just learned a new step and there she was doing it just like her teacher. Cute!

But at the end.....

The girls were told to get in a line like a train. They were going to do 2 circles around the room and then out the door to waiting moms.

A girl (the tallest who was closest to the door was told she was going to lead. Everyone got in line. My daughter walked to the back and then to the front. I heard her say, "I want to drive the train." The tallest girl notice that she was in front of her and said, "no I am first" as she got in front of my daughter.

The teacher notice my daughter didn't have her hands on the tallest girl's shoulder so she said, "honey put your hands on her shoulders." I watched my daughter cup her hands as if they were on her shoulder but not. I was thinking holy crap, she is refusing to touch her.

The teacher said, "you can't reach honey? just put your hands on her waist. Do you want to put them on her waist?" My daughter's response, "No!"

The teacher took her hand and the next girl's and they walked around the room with everyone "chugging" except for my daughter.

On the last lap the walked out the door (my daughter second). She had a puss on. I took her hand and asked if she had fun. I opened her door and as she climbed in she said, "Mommy, I was mad. I didn't want to touch that girl. I was first."

I told her that I knew she was mad but that her teacher, Miss J******* had told that girl that she was the driver. Then I told her that everyone has to take turns but her answer was, "I was mad Mommy. I didn't want to touch her."

Seriously! The curling of the hands and pretending to touch her shoulders cracks me up. But, where did this attitude come from? Anyone who knows me will attest that this is not from me.

ABC Wednesday - H

Hair!

Ahhh...here are some pictures of my daughter's hair.

I love playing, touching my kids hair. My son doesn't love it as much as my daughter. She will let me play with her hair for hours.

Product Review - Hip T - Cover You Assets

This falls into the WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT CATEGORY?

Recently, I got to try an ultra cool Hip T Cover Your assets.

Any idea what I am talking about? Well, that is where I come in.

Sit here, put your feet up

Comfy? Ok, good.

First off, Hip T is the best way to cover your assets. You know what I am talking about ladies. We all have them and they have been on display for the world to see for too, too long. Yeah I know there are few out there who really want to show off those pretty, lacy G-strings. I also know there are a few men out there that will be sorry that some brilliant person came up with a very easy way for us to cover our delicate back crack up.

But

Seriously girls sometimes it is just inappropriate to have it all hanging out. They are making pants lower and shirts shorter these days. What is a hip, cool, chick to do??

Slip on Hip T.

It sits right on your hips, right where you need it. You slip it on, pull it over your jeans, shorts or shirt and pull it over your hips, done.

No more butt crack, muffin top, or what color underwear am I wearing displays.

You need it! Believe me.

It comes in all the colors you will ever need; Olive, brown, aqua, cream, orange, and many, many more.

Ummmm, is it wrong that I let my 3 year old wear the Corona Light box?

3rd Year of Preschool May Just Be The Charm

Car ride to school. Not his normal smile.

Waiting to go inside, notice the nervous finger and the "I Rule" shirt

On pickup, holding his balloon and standing with Sheress' youngest who came with us to celebrate the first day.

I have written in great detail, my desire to give my son 1 more year before sending him off to Kindergarten here, and here.

Today was his first day of preschool in a totally new school with new teachers and new classmates. We talked about it all weekend and this morning when we got ready he asked if I would come with him. I kept telling him that I was dropping him off but would not be staying. I made a big deal about him being first (his sister starts tomorrow).

When the doors of the school opened and the teacher announced to all waiting parents and kids, my stomach dropped a little.

We walked in amid total chaos, (bigger class than they have had and tons of people in a little hallway). He wanted to play, he pointed to the play stations and nodded his head. I told him that he had to find his name and put it on the board. He found his name, and put it on the board. There was no one telling any of the kids what to do so when he asked to go play I told him to go ahead. It's the first day so I am sure it was crazy because of that but I must admit I was nervous leaving him in all that noise.

His sister and I walked over where he was playing at a table and I told him I was leaving. I kissed him good-bye. He said, "you have to stay." I told him that I had to go and left. I snuck a peek into the window and he was playing on the floor with something.

My friend Sheress and I took our littlest ones to the diner for breakfast, got my son a star balloon and drove back to the school. The kids were all outside so we sat in the car to watch them play. I must admit, as much as I wanted to watch, I was afraid he would see me. He was playing the other kids, he helped a little girl who was trying to ride a car down a ramp and he just looked happy.

When I headed in to get him, he and other children were sitting nicely on a bench waiting. He saw me and came over with a "hi" and "can I have a balloon?" I gave him his balloon and waited for the teacher so I could ask how he did.

I heard only the things a mom would want to hear. "He was wonderful. He is so polite, a very good sharer, very social, has wonderful manner, you should be very proud. He is great!

Tomorrow his sister goes with him, it should be interesting to hear how they do together.
