My Life In Pictures - January 8 - 18

January 8 - I was early getting to work so got out to take some photos. I love the warm glow of this lantern with the white house and flag!

January 9 -  My daughter found this cute octopus at Walmart and was all "Can I have it?" Ahhhh no honey, you would have to move out of your bedroom. There is only room for one of you!

January 10 -  Back on the album kick. I truly wish I hadn't thrown away all my crates of albums. My husband called me a hoarder so I got rid of them. It is one of my biggest regrets among quite a few that are currently piling up! Oh well, at least I held onto a hand full.

January 11 - Just me! Standing in my classroom waiting for the day to start! I could not wait for these masks situation to end!

January 12 - Acai Bowl for lunch. I used a wonderful Christmas gift card from one of my students. It was truly delicious.

January 13 - I made my class a parking garage for them to manipulate cars into parking spots. It isn't as easy as you think. My class are 2 year olds and they needed some help figuring out how to put the cars between the tape. They love cars so I figured this was a fun way to play with letter P for parking.

January 14 -  NADA

January 15 - My two sock gnomes using Dollar Tree items. It was so much fun and started my latest craze.

January 16 -  My little rocker gnome. I love this guy in his little pea coat and skull cap.  I made him using socks from Dollar Tree, a black sock, Mop and pantyhose over a small ball nose.

January 17 - NADA

January 18 - My girl!!! She always hides but I think she is so beautiful.

My Life In Pictures - Jan 1 - Jan 7, 2021

January 1 - nada. how the hell did I not take a photo on the first day in 2021?

January 2 - my girl! Me and my girl went out on a beautiful winter day. We walked over 6 miles just enjoying the beautiful weather, the conversation and took a ton of pictures.

January 3 - Art by my girl! Amazing!

January 4 - Winter sky! I love the colors of the winter night sky! Well I love the color of the sky no matter the year but the tree and the moon just are special with that BLUE!

January 5 - I am obsessed with golden milk. Turmeric, milk, black pepper and crushed ginger. It is delicious.

January 6 - I took photos of my students and this cake only on this date. Not much to share but I remember the cake being delicious.

January 7 - Another gorgeous sky photo!

My Life In Pictures - Sept 1 - Sept 7, 2020

September 1 - My girl and I went glamping with some friends who were kind enough to invite us to go with her and her kids. It was a nice time away doing something different with my daughter. We had a great time being unplugged and hanging with her and her kids.

September 2 - My girl and I hanging in our bedroom of the cabin! Small but cosy!

September 3 - NADA

September 4 -  My deck lanterns are some of my favorite things to take photos of.

September 4 -Sometimes I need to take photos of myself. I do not like this photo. My hair is strange. My eyebrows so need help and my skin looks so dry and aged but I like my eye color so  photo was necessary. Sometimes we are so hard on ourselves. Always find something you like about yourself. It is important for your soul and we are our own worst critic.

September 6 - NADA

September 7 - This skeleton looks so weird. Not even sure why we took this photo.

June 27 - Do you see what I see?

June 28 - She's not great but I drew her.

When Nursing Ends

One Year Ago Today……

One year ago today, was the day I stopped nursing my daughter. (Last Years post)
One year ago today, I sat holding her while she feed from my body.
One year ago today, was the last time I held her like an infant.
One year ago today, she slept with me and nursed off and on all night long.
One year ago today, I was sad that it was over and I would never nurse another baby again.
One year ago today, I was still fielding questions about when I would stop nursing.
One year ago today, my baby grew up with one night out with a friend.
Nursing my kids was something I knew I would do when I was pregnant. My son was such a natural. He was my first and he took to it like a champ. I nursed him for about 8 months which was as long as he would allow. Then I pumped for another 4 until he was 1.
My daughter on the other hand, was not a natural and because she gave me so much resistance, I felt unsupported by the people in my life for the first 4 days of her life. She was hungry and would not latch on. I finally got in touch with Le Leche and through their support (1 phone call), I got the support I needed to relax and try again and it worked. When she finally got it, it was so easy.
I never felt that it was a job, or a commitment, annoying, hard, it just worked. Having a 23 month old be patient enough to watch me nurse ALL DAY is crazy too. Everyone just did their part and it was a piece of cake. In fact. I loved it. It relaxed me and when it finally was over I realized it was the only time I sat down. On the 3rd day after weaning I realized I NEVER sat down during the day. Nursing forced me to sit and just be! Something a mom with a colicky newborn and a late talking 23 month old needed very badly.
Baby Girl,
I will never forget how much I loved holding you and smelling you as you nursed. I used to take my hand and trace your face and play with your hair as you played with my fingers. Your brother used to come over and say, “baby eat” whenever you were nursing. He didn’t say much but he did tell us when you were crying and when you needed to eat.
You used to call it “all done” which I found so cute. You would come up and ask for all done which meant you wanted to be nursed. I guess me asking if you were all done was a bit confusing.
When we were done I was actually very surprised at how easy it was. You asked for it the next night and I said, “You don’t need it.” You probably only asked for it 3 times. On the 4th night you cried for it but I felt that enough nights had gone by and that you were probably more tired than wanting to nurse. Honestly, if you had cried and begged for it on the next evening after missing the first time I would have caved in.
I love you baby and miss our time together but I think our bond more than makes up for that loss of closeness.
God bless you baby. You are everything Mommy wished for and God intended.
