Titanosaur Discovering the World's Largest Dinosaur
By Florencia Gigena , Jose Luis Carballido , Diego Pol
This book tells the story of
the discovery of this new dinosaur — the Titanosaur — from the mouths
of the paleontologists who led the dig! From its discovery by a local
herder, to the organization and completion of the excavation, this
riveting story will have readers on the edge of their seats, and the
beautifully painted illustrations will mesmerize. The final spread will
open up into a gatefold showing a photograph of the full Titanosaur
skeleton on display at the museum. Chock-full of back matter like a
glossary and extra information and photographs from the dig, and an
inside jacket poster of the Titanosaur, kids of all ages will devour
this book.
The 411:
Ever wonder how museums get those big dinosaur bones? In Titanosaur Discovering the World's Largest Dinosaur we hear how real Paleontologists Jose Luis Carballido
,
Diego Pol unearthed the complete skeleton after a Gaucho (you learn what that is in the book as well through glossary boxes on the pages) came into a museum stating that he found a bone on his property.
I appreciated the "real" photos of the unearthing of this humongous dinosaur and recently read that kids who are into dinosaurs are smarter than your average kid! I also had no idea that they cast the bones before moving them and while I should have known but didn't that the dinosaurs you see in museums are usually copies of the real bones.
Definitely an interesting book.
