These classics are a must at Christmas time. We watch Rudolph, Frosty and Santa Claus is Coming To Town every year but I have not seen The Little Drummer Boy or Cricket On The Hearth for years. The kids loved these movies and it gets us all a little nostalgic. My kids loved watching two "New" movies (The Little Drummer Boy and Cricket On The Hearth). I wrap 24 gifts on December 1st (our movies and books) and every night one of the kids pull on out of the basket. We open it and watch or read whatever it is. This will be added to the mix next year. Here is my original post talking about our tradition.
Santa Claus is Coming To Town is probably my favorite of this bunch if you twisted my arm to pick on. I love the story of a baby left at the Kringles home who eventually becomes Santa by making toys for all the girls and boys who are not allowed toys by Burgermeister Meisterburger.
Frosty always made me cry when he melted. That little girl crying over Frosty's puddle when Jack Frost locks her and Frosty in the greenhouse was always so sad.
The stop animation of The Little Drummer Boy is LOVE! My sisters and I loved this movie so much. We cried during this movie too. When the little boys parents died and he was left an orphan. It sounds so sad but it is a story of promise and love. AND that little lamb!
Cricket on The Hearth is also sad at times. Why are all these movies my favorites when they use to make me cry. I think it has all the feels. Sadness, hope, love and made me feel good. PLUS Roddy MacDowall was in it and we loved him.
Last but far from least is Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer. WHO doesn't love Rudolph and all his reindeer games. My sisters and I love these movies as do my kids. These movies are for all ages and are truly timeless classics.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite show of the five is The Little Drummer Boy. When my baby brother(now age 57) was just three year old we were all watching a version of the little drummer boy on TV one night. He disappeared for a bit, then came back with a foldgers coffee can and toilet paper wrapped on the can like a drum.And he had two table spoons for the drum sticks.Ever since then we have called him the little drummer boy.
