Shelby: A Magical Holiday Tail - A Review + A #Giveaway
SHELBY, the Dove®-family-approved movie for all ages, arrives on Digital HD Oct. 23 and on DVD and On Demand Nov. 3 from Anchor Bay Entertainment.
It takes a special kind of dog to teach a family some new tricks. Christmas is coming, and notorious stray pup/escape artist Shelby (voiced by Rob Schneider) is once again locked up in the dog pound. But when a spoiled rich kid tries to adopt him for all the wrong reasons, Shelby runs away and hides in the suburban basement of 10-year-old aspiring magician Jake Parker (John Paul Ruttan of ROBOCOP). With the frazzled local dogcatcher (Tom Arnold) hot on their tail, can Jake, his siblings and their visiting grandpa (Chevy Chase) pull off the ultimate trick to rescue Shelby and make him part of their family forever? Jefferson Brown (MAKE YOUR MOVE) co-stars in this heartwarming comedy about Christmas miracles, Christmas magic, and the holiday love that speaks to us all.
The 411:
The kids and I sat down for a movie tonight. We watched Shelby A Magical Holiday Tail starring Tom Arnold and Chevy Chase.
We LOVE holiday movies especially when a talking dog is involved. Shelby is voiced by Rob Schneider who is perfect for this funny, smart dog.
Shelby is an escape artist at the pound leaving the dogcatcher (Tom Arnold) constantly on the run. When a spoiled kid comes in with his mom and wants Shelby, his mom agrees to get him at all costs promising Tom Arnold a couple thousand if he can get that dog!
Shelby eventually meets Jake Parker, I don't to spoil it but this dog and boy NEED to be together. They complete each other.
Jake's mom is afraid of dogs so Jake has a plan that involves Santa. If only he could hide Shelby until Christmas. Mom can't say no to a Santa gift! It's a great plan.
Thankfully Grandpa is here and thinks Jake SHOULD have Shelby.
Can the family warm mom up to keeping this lovable dog? You will have to watch to find out.
The movie is a wonderful family friendly movie with a special friendship message. Jake and Shelby find each other in this world and together they are better than alone. Also, a great message about adopting dogs from the pounds instead of buying them. Well done and with the addition of Chevy Chase and Tom Arnold paired with this fiesty, funny dog, and Jack the magician, it's a great movie for the whole family.
