Smart Tips for Storing in College

Many people are thrilled to go to college. They imagine their college years to be the most amazing in their lifetime and look forward to starting their new lives as adults. Most people associate this period with constant partying. However, there is more to it. Students need to learn to be responsible and organized, and how to get by on little money. They have to study and make decisions, clean their rooms and keep everything under control.

Life in college is difficult. One of the first problems students face is storage. So little space and so many belongings! “How do I ever cope with that?” As a matter of fact, everyone eventually gets to asking the same question. How do you store all your stuff in a small dorm room? The thought of it makes you sick and it's only a matter of time before you get this how-did-I-get-here feeling. But no worries. Something can be done. There are some very useful storage solutions to help you stay organized and clean despite the small size of your room. Take a look below.

Under-bed Storage: Bed Risers
You can't imagine how much stuff you can store under your bed. In a small dorm room, using bed risers seems like a fantastic idea. A bed takes up a lot of space and it's something you can't do without. Don't you wish you could raise it a little so you could place a number of things under it? All you need is bed risers. They can be found in some stores. These gadgets allow you to lift your bed so that there is some space under it. Once you provide more room for your stuff, your room will look more spacious.

Purchase a set of bed risers and do the trick. If you can't do it alone, ask a friend to help you.
Closet and Clothes
Wondering how to hold all roommates' clothes in one single closet? Use rod doublers. They are very handy and can double the hanging space in any wardrobe, allowing you and your roommates to store all the clothes you have. If you need more space for your folded clothes, rod doublers will not be of any help. To take full advantage of the space in your closet you'd better add drawers.

Other Storage Alternatives
There are a variety of storage supplies available on the market. You just need to explore all the options and see which fits best the size of your room. For example, you can buy storage caddies. It's a great option for girls who can store their cosmetic products inside. Caddies can be hung in the wardrobe, on the door or anywhere else so they don't take much space. With this done, there will be more room for other belongings on your shelves.

Are you wondering where to store your shoes? Got too many of them? There are closet organizers that can be hung over the inside of a closet door. They have “pockets” where different stuff can be placed. Apart from placing your shoes there, you can also add other belongings. The advantage of using over-the-door organizers is that they don't take up space and keep your stuff out of sight and off the floor. Plus, they hang over closets very easily.

Hook racks can give you additional space for storing your possessions anywhere in the room. You can install hook racks on the door, wall, window sill and even on a desk.
Keeping your dorm room clean and organized is important, even though it may not seem so right now, so it's a good idea to be creative when it comes to storage space.
