Hurricane Season Begins With A Safe Giveway

As the 2012 hurricane season New York Office of Emergency Management’s (OEM) wants you to educate yourself on how to prepare and make sure you and your family are safe.
Contrary to popular belief among New Yorkers, tropical storms and hurricanes can and do impact the City. New York Office of Emergency Management’s (OEM)’s guide, Ready New York: Hurricanes and New York City includes general tips on how to prepare for any emergency, instructions on how to develop a hurricane disaster plan and secure your home, and a map of New York City hurricane evacuation zones.

This is the third Giveaway I have hosted on Maria's Space and do so because I believe preparation is key for my family and yours.  Waiting until catastrophe strikes is never a good thing. Being level headed and prepared can be the difference between life and death so be smart and find out what you need to before the worst happens.

Since my last giveaway, I found out where my closest evacuation center is and my kit hangs in my house with everything we need if we had to fly out of the house!

I've learned something new this time too and I want to share it with you. Add 311 to your important number list. This is where you would be able to obtain information during an emergency for evacuation centers in your area.

To help you get started with your readiness plan the OEM has sent over a Go Kit for one of our readers.

Go Kit Bag with a Pocket Radio, Flashlight, First Aid Kit, Batteries, Worker's Gloves, Light Sticks, Emergency Blankets and More!
a Rafflecopter giveaway

Disclosure: I am hosting this giveaway on behalf of the Ad Council and the New York City Office of Emergency Management’s Ready New York campaign
who provided the giveaway product. I received no monetary compensation.
