In A Nutshell: This book took me longer to read than most other Chicken Soup for The 

Soul. While I believe there are a thousands who will love this book it wasn't my cup of tea!  I have never understood the whole idea behind Nascar but I know tons of chicks who love it. 

There were some stories that I did love though! For instance there was one by Ryan Newman who wrote about his father who worked many overtime hours to make enough money for Ryan to race. Every night before he turned off the lights in the garage he would tell Ryan "Don't forget to kiss your car goodnight."

In A Nutshell:

I loved it! Ciara is smart and doesn't play damsel in distress at all. She is afterall a widow with a rumor of murder surrounding her. In comes Lucas with his "lover" reputation and long black locks. I couldn't picture him at all. Usually I get a vision of the characters in my mind while reading and I just couldn't see him. All I remember about him is that he had long, black hair. He is an expert in making females swoon and swoon they do. I loved the scene of Ciara overhearing some chatty woman talking about his skills in detail. Cute!

While I was somewhat disappointed that Ciara found herself falling for him (after all He is a scoundrel and that is the perfect name for him) so early (after all SHE is a scholar and a mother), what made up for it was that Cara Elliott doesn't have them sleep together until 85% through the book.

In A Nutshell: I never got the opportunity to have an adult relationship with my mother (she died when I was 12) however, this is something that is very important to me as my daughter gets older.  Thankfully I have friends who have adult children and have had an opportunity to watch from the outside the dynamics of healthy mother-daughter relationships and the shifts and changes that occur on an almost daily basis.

Mother-Daughter Duet by Cheri Fuller and Ali Plum is an open, honest, resource to help all mothers and adult daughters have the relationship they have always wanted. Even if you have a daughter as young as mine (5 next month) this is a great read. It is eye opening and very well written.
