Doctor's Orders - 101 Medically Proven Tips For Losing Weight - Book Review

Two week I received a book called Doctor's Orders, 101 Medically Proven Tips For Losing Weight by Dr. Kent Sasse.

Product Description
This simple yet powerful tips resource provides meaningful evidence-based practical and effective tips for initial weight loss and long-term weight maintenance. It touches on key topics that help remind us to initiate and ingrain long-term healthy behaviors. It points out small meaningful steps that we can all take on the road to a healthier weight. Take advantage of Dr. Sasse's insight and reading of the scientific literature to make your own weight loss journey a success.

I am not even sure who sent it to me but read it in my in between times, cooking dinner, bathing a child, waiting at the school for dismassal, etc.

The book is chock full of tips, 101 to be exact, about ways to help you lose weight. I believe Dr. Sasse has some wonderful ideas, some that we SHOULD all know but are so basic that we don't realize how some little changes in our lives work.

Things like:
Avoid sitting near the food  (really shouldn't we all know this? if we sit near the food we are going to pick!)

Don't eat directly out of the box (we seriously don't realize how much we eat when we eat this way, so put those chips in a bowl and only eat what is in the bowl!! Oh and make it a child's size bowl.)

Take at least 8,000 steps a day - (We should all be walking. 8,000 steps is really easy to do. Wear a pedometer, they are really affordable.

Move the candy bowl - Yes! I cannot control myself around certain candy (anything with peanut butter) so I never let it in the house. It is easy enough since my kids are allergic. But on Halloween, I allow myself to eat every single Reese Peanut Butter cup that is giving out to my kids. Unless, my husband gets to it first that is.

Learn to live with some hunger - It is ok to have your stomach growl. I am not saying to put your body in starvation mode by eating like a starlet. (Oh, I had a tick tac today..I am so full).

There is nothing difficult about what Dr. Sasse suggests. This book is idiot proof. I highly recommond it and my dad is getting my review copy this week along with a pedometer. I will not wait for Christmas to send it. He seriously needs it NOW.

Check out Dr. Sasse's website/blog for loads of information on getting healthy.

This is a pedometer is a great gift idea for someone you love.
