What is this World Coming To?

I always think I am so jaded that nothing will shock me anymore but tonight will listening to the news I realized how wrong I was.

A father forced his 7 year old daughter to kill a family cat. He came home drunk, gave his 11 year old son a knife and told him to kill the cat. The son tried to save the cat by hiding it and putting ketchup on the knife.

When the father realized the cat was not dead he took his daughters hand and plunged the knife into the cat then told the son to throw the cat in the trash.

I am not even sure what to make of this story. I just hope that someone helps his children who undoubtedly will be forever scarred by this heinous act.
