Is Australia a Family Destination?

Australia is a massive country, but one that, for many, conjures up images of blisteringly hot and sandy deserts and extremely dangerous animals. Australia does have some pretty poisonous creatures, but don't be put off – it's one of the world's best family destinations, and here are some inspiring locations that will prove it to you!

Sydney Harbor

Sydney Harbor is a beautiful waterway in Sydney, Australia's biggest city. Your kids might recognize Sydney from Finding Nemo, but after seeing the Sydney Opera House's architecture, they'll never forget their time there. The memorable nature of Sydney harbor will likely be greatly enhanced due to how photogenic the whole waterway can be. Cockatoo Island, Fort Denison, Manly Beach, and the Sydney Harbor Bridge are all brilliant locations for photos that will be treasured forever.

Like heat? Go to Darwin, which has such heat that interacting with water has become a staple of everyday life. When Darwinians interact with water, they don't just have a shower or even a dip in the pool. They enjoy the Lagoon at the Waterfront Precinct or run through the waterfalls in Litchfield National Park, helping your family enjoy nature and cool off at the same time. There are beautiful National Parks with much-needed swimming holes, but Darwin is a great location if you're a fan of history or art. Places like the Kakadu National Park have several indigenous rock-art pieces over 20,000 years old, and if you love nature, you're sure to spot some crocodiles as you make your way through the landscape.

Adelaide Hills

The perfect location for leaving behind all your worries and enjoying the freedom of the Australian countryside, the Adelaide Hills feature scenic and manicured rolling hills as well as bushland. The accommodation in Hahndorf, which is a town in the Adelaide Hills, is excellent and features the best caravan and holiday park in Australia. The whole family will have something to enjoy, whether it'sswimming, biking, hiking, or just sitting back and putting some prawns on the barbecue.

Famous for the Tasmanian Devil, Tasmania is an engaging wilderness island perfect for beach holidays and driving holidays alike. You can camp in the Tasmanian National Park, swim, or even sea-kayak in and around Coles Bay, swing through the trees in Tahune, and even go on ghost tours and museum trips if you fancy a change. It is picturesque, scenic, and exciting – perfect for wholesome family fun.

The Gold Coast

The Gold Coast might be especially popular with kids… Why? They have five massive theme parksthat will occupy them for days or even weeks on end if they had the choice. The theme parks are Dreamworld, WhiteWater World, Sea World, Wetn' Wild, and Movie World, and if you can't tell by the aquatic themes, a lot of them have splash zones! You don't need to just ride roller coasters on the Gold Coast; you can jet-ski, kayak, watch whales, or surf – and if you get bored of all that, one of the world's best zoos is a drive away!
