Diary Of A Pug - Pug's Snow Day by Kyla May Is Perfect First Chapter Books

Diary of A Pug - Pug's Snow Day

Baron von Bubbles, a.k.a "Bub," is the self-proclaimed cutest pug on the planet! Things he loves: fashion, peanut butter, and his human, Bella. Things he does NOT love: Nutz the squirrel, baths, and the rain. When Bella enters the Inventor Challenge, Bub helps her craft the best project ever — a rocket. But what happens when Nutz gets on Bub's nerves and makes him ruin Bella's project? If Bub wants to make it up to Bella, he'll have to stand up to Nutz — and the rain — once and for all.

With full-color artwork throughout, this funny and charming diary-format early chapter book is perfect for anyone who believes a furry pal is the best kind of friend.

The 411:

I love these books. Any book that makes a reluctant reader want to read is a win. My daughter was never a reader. It took so long for her to get through her reading for school or the half hour necessary reading a night log for school until I found these type of books. They are almost like a graphic novel. Lots of pictures, word bubbles, humor and text to move the story along are perfect books for reluctant readers.

These are the best first chapter books for 1 and 2nd grade but can work for anyone who isn't into reading.

Written in diary form Bub tells us about his person Bella and how much he hates water. He isn't excited at all when Bella tells him she is home for a snow day and how she wants to take him outside. He is cold and she tells him as soon as they start moving he will warm up. Try as he might to not disappoint he is cold. Eventually he learns to love it with the proper clothes until one day he and Bella are spooked by a "monster". They notice teeth marks on some wood and run inside shaking on a deal that they will never go outside again.  Brave Bub does some sleuth work to find out who the "monster" is and eventually the meet new friends.

The story is adorable and will be loved by you and your child.

I highly recommend this book.
