New York, NY – Shady
Ladies tours will present The Wild and Weird Tour
of the Met, an intriguing two-hour walking tour of
the world famous museum, beginning on Saturday, February 23 at
4:00 PM. Tour-goers get to explore the obscure and
hidden corners of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where there’s a
world of strange, unusual and sometimes chilling artifacts hiding
in plain sight. Among the curios waiting to be discovered
are:
- The Met’s
surprisingly large collection of corpses
- The vases in which
the ancient Egyptians stored mummified livers, entrails and
lungs—and learn just how important those bits and pieces were
for the afterlife
- The hooks New Guinea’s
headhunters hung their enemies’ skulls on
- The Met’s only
painting with two castrati
- The cradle that
rocks itself
The Wild
and Weird Tour of the Met is available on February 23,
March 9 and March 23 at 4:00 PM, with more dates to be announced.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located at 1000 Fifth Avenue and

Shady Ladies Tours' art museum tours introduce art lovers to some
of the sexiest and sauciest works of art in New York City.
Designed by Professor Andrew Lear, a leading scholar on the history
of sexuality and one of the foremost experts on erotic Greek and
Roman art, the tours reveal the scandalous back-stories behind
paintings and sculptures in major New York City museums.
Tours include Nasty
Women of the Metropolitan, Shady Ladies of the Metropolitan and
Gay Secrets of
the Metropolitan. With his groundbreaking work on
the history of art and his long experience as a scholar and
teacher, Professor Lear is an ideal guide to give tour-goers an
entirely new (and naughty) perspective on both classic and
little-known pieces of art. For more information, please
