Elysium Health is a health startup that was founded by Dr.
Leonard Guarente. Dr. Guarente, in addition to his responsibilities as chief
scientist of the company, serves as the director of the Glenn Center for
Biology of Aging Research at MIT. Partnering together with scientists and
clinicians from prominent academic institutions, Elysium Health translates
advances in technology and advances in science to create clinically-validated
health products that work.
Guiding the scientific direction of Elysium Health is the
company’s scientific advisory board, which is composed of world-class
scientists and clinicians.
Based on 25 years of aging research, Elysium
Health created Basis, a daily supplement meant to support cellular health.
When Basis is taken on a daily basis, it increases levels of NAD+. NAD+ is a
coenzyme found in all living cells that’s essential to maintaining DNA Health, the creation of energy, and the regulation of circadian rhythms, as well
as hundreds of other cellular functions. As we age, our levels of NAD+ decline
and those functions can break down.
A clinical trial for Basis took place in 2016. The trial was
randomized, placebo-controlled, and double-blind, consistent with the best
practices for clinical trials. It involved 120 subjects, who were divided into
three groups. Group one took two capsules of Basis, which is the recommended
daily dose of the supplement. Group two took four capsules of the supplement,
which is double the recommended daily dose of Basis. Group three took a
placebo. The recommended daily dose of Basis is two capsules. Group one took
two capsules, group two took four capsules, group three took a placebo daily.
Taking the recommended daily dose of Basis increased levels of NAD+ by an
average of 40 percent in humans during the trial. The results of the trial were
published in November 2017 in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Partner Journals: Aging and Mechanisms of Disease.
You can take the Basis supplement while on a diet, or if you
have any dietary allergies, because the supplement is vegetarian, vegan,
gluten-free, nut-free, and free of any artificial flavors and colors.
Visit Elysium Health's website to buy Basis. Each jar of
Basis contains 60 capsules, which is enough for 30 days' worth of daily intake.
As a result, the company sells the supplement in a variety of monthly
subscriptions. An individual jar of Basis costs $60. But monthly subscriptions
to the supplement bring that cost down to between $40 and $50, depending on the
length of the subscription.
To offer a new way to buy Basis, Elysium Health has
partnered with the tech retailer b8ta to sell the supplement in stores. There
are nine b8ta locations in the US. Check one out to pick up a jar of Basis

Elysium Health
is developing new products that focus on the microbiome, cognitive health, skin
health, muscle function, and circadian rhythms. These products are in various
stages of pre-clinical and clinical trials.
