April Is STD Awareness Month The Perfect Time To Talk About Giant Microbes

Teachers, Parents, Counselors, Doctors, EVERYONE....Break the stigma with these adorable GIANTmicrobes STD’s! 

 

YES! We all know the talk is uncomfortable but it doesn't have to be. Whether you are talking to a child or a new partner everyone needs to think about STDs.  According to the CDC, shame and embarrassment are one of the main reasons people avoid getting tested. In a report in 2016, there were 20 million new cases of STDs each year and more than two million cases of syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea, which is the highest number on record!

In order to start lowering these shockingly high numbers and help break the stigma against STDs – we need to start educating and getting comfortable with “The Talk”.

The CDC’s theme this year, Treat Me Right, involves not only fostering a trusting relationship with your provider, but as a patient knowing what to do to stay safe and get the help you need and deserve!

I can't think of a better way to have the talk. Throw a GIANTmicrobe at someone and watch their face as they read the tag. Then you sit down and say we should talk.

When posted on my personal Facebook page a friend asked "Who are these for kids?" I replied I think they are for everyone but especially doctors, therapists, school nurses, and counselors. They should absolutely have these Microbes in their office. 

They are cute and while it may be weird they could make "The Talk" easier.
