April Is STD Awareness Month The Perfect Time To Talk About Giant Microbes

Teachers, Parents, Counselors, Doctors, EVERYONE....Break the stigma with these adorable GIANTmicrobes STD’s

YES! We all know the talk is uncomfortable but it doesn't have to be. Whether you are talking to a child or a new partner everyone needs to think about STDs.  According to the CDC, shame and embarrassment are one of the main reasons people avoid getting tested. In a report in 2016, there were 20 million new cases of STDs each year and more than two million cases of syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea, which is the highest number on record!

In order to start lowering these shockingly high numbers and help break the stigma against STDs – we need to start educating and getting comfortable with “The Talk”.

The CDC’s theme this year, Treat Me Right, involves not only fostering a trusting relationship with your provider, but as a patient knowing what to do to stay safe and get the help you need and deserve!

I can't think of a better way to have the talk. Throw a GIANTmicrobe at someone and watch their face as they read the tag. Then you sit down and say we should talk.

Confused… scared…anxious…these are some of the many emotions GIANTmicrobes STDs will bring out in us, although cute on the outside, these little critters will give you that itch you just can’t scratch, a fiery burn, and could even leave you with a foul scent cooking down there… And if you think you may have caught one, not to worry there are people here to help you!

GIANTmicrobes is helping STD Awareness month, by sharing their collection of STDs, from Chlamydia, Clap, Crab Louse, Herpes, HIV, HPV, Pox, Trichomoniasis, to Zika -GIANTmicrobes has a critter for every eventful occasion! Inspired by the invisible microscopic world, each microbe includes a printed card with fun, interesting and educational facts so your partner, friend, EX, child, or students can really explore and learn about this invisible… or not so invisible life going on in our world today. Helping them get a closer look at what each disease is, why to prevent them, and hopefully (because they are so charming) help you feel more comfortable when talking about them.

Instead of going for that homerun this spring, take a breath and remember to Talk, Test, and Treat with your partner – saving one itch, burn, and blister at a time. Love might be in the air this spring, but just remember to stay safe and keep clean this 2018, and know GIANTmicrobes STDs are on the prowl and just can't wait to jump in your pants!

The 411:

When posted on my personal Facebook page a friend asked "Who are these for kids?" I replied I think they are for everyone but especially doctors, therapists, school nurses, and counselors. They should absolutely have these Microbes in their office.

They are cute and while it may be weird they could make "The Talk" easier.

Head over to GIANTmicrobes and enter their giveaway, play a game, check out an STD Infographic and see how many other cute microbes are available.
