Tips and Ideas for Decorating a Nursery

Having a baby is an exciting and sometimes scary experience that will result in a lifetime of love for your bundle of joy. Preparing the nursery is one of the many tasks that parents must complete before the baby’s arrival. However, trying to figure out how to decorate the baby’s room can be frustrating and stressful. In years past, parents would decorate with hues of pink or blue, depending on the gender of the baby. While this traditional is still practiced by some, most parents are looking more creative ways to turn the room into a special place.

Geek it Out

In recent years, it has become rather common for the parents to use their fandoms as inspiration for the nursery. Star Wars and Harry Potter, for example, are a few of the franchises that have seen a boost in the desire to decorate rooms, such as nurseries, in their merchandise. The good news is that most popular franchises have a few, if not more, baby-related items that can help with the decorating. With a little creativity and a lot of hard work, you can turn the nursery into the perfect, magical place that you crave.

Personalize It

A great way to make the room extra special is to choose personalized nursery decor. Pillow wall accents spelling out the child’s name and a wall sign listing their date of birth and names are a few of the personalized options that can turn the room into a one-of-a-kind nursery.

Go Nautical

While it’s not a new concept, the sea is a wonderful theme for nurseries. What’s even better is since there are so many creatures living in the ocean, you have a slew of options for the decorations. For example, you can hang a jellyfish, shark or random fish mobile and cover the baby mattress in squad-patterned sheets.

Keep it Simple

If you’re still undecided about the theme, why not skip it and go simple. A nursery doesn’t has to have a theme and you can instead choose a color scheme – such as hues of grays and yellows or blues and browns – to decorate the nursery in.

No matter how you decide to decorate the nursery, remember to not fret too much about it. Themes and color schemes can be changed and the most important thing is that your baby is loved and well cared for.
