Designing A Cookie Bouquet

Whether it's for a birthday, anniversary or another special occasion, cookie bouquets make a personal, fun and creative gift. You can design them in any way that you want them to look, or you can order them online from companies that have ideas already in mind for the occasion.

When you begin making your cookie bouquet, find a vase or basket that matches the occasion. Choose colors that blend with the occasion, such as red and green for Christmas, pink or blue for a baby shower or the arrival or a new baby or black and orange for Halloween. Find cookie cutters in the shape of the designs that you want to display. Make sure the cookies are large enough to be seen and enjoyed, but you don't want to make them too large as they will take over the container.

Begin the process of creating the bouquet by baking the cookies. Add a few different designs so that you don't have all of the same thing in the bouquet. This will also help when you begin decorating as each cookie will have different colors. The multiple colors of the cookies will stand out in the bouquet, making it cheerful to look at until the cookies are consumed.

Cookies that have a basic flavor work best when creating the bouquet, such as a sugar cookie. You want to make sure there is substance to the cookie so that it will stand up while on the stick that is placed in the center of the dough. Once the dough is baked, the stick will remain, which is what you will use to place the cookies in the container for the bouquet. Make a layout of the bouquet before you begin arranging the items inside the container unless you want to have a fun, unorganized look. After the cookies are baked, it's time to decorate them with icing that won't melt when they are wrapped as you will want them in plastic until they are enjoyed. Consider adding a few other decorations to the cookies, such as sprinkles or glitter, to make them stand out and to give a few added details that make them pop when viewed.

  1. This is a great idea for Mother's Day. It would be better off if you weren't on a diet when you make the bouquet. I am on a diet, and I might be tempted to eat a cookie.
