This Otoscope is just like the one used in my doc's office. It comes in a hard case with three different attachments so you can use one for each child or member of the family. Clean with alcohol before and after introducing the tips to the ear.
The Otoscope takes 2 C batteries which are inserted through the bottom. Batteries are not included.
You can remove each ear piece with a small rotation and replace the same way. There is a little notch that locks it into place when you screw it together.
The on/off switch is red and it can be used quickly and easily with your thumb. There is no noise that comes from the Otoscope so you can easily check a sleeping child.
There is also a swivel enlargement lens which give you a 4X enlargement.
I wouldn't use this in lieu of going to a doctor. This may possibly limit the amount of exams for ear infections but unless you have a medical degree do not trust your own abilities and see a doctor when necessary.
