Ambition's not An Awful Word by Zack Zage - Book Review

Ambition’s Not An Awful Word
Zack Zage
Illustrated by Adam Watkins

Ambition's Not An Awful Word will have you and your kids laughing out loud. The nimble verse is attention getting and memorable. The illustrations by Adam Watkins are fabulous and provocative. And, there is a tongue-in-cheek glossary that is unforgettably funny. This book is a gift to all the parents who have struggled to stay awake while reading a bedtime story to the kids.

My Review:

"Zack is in 3rd grade and when his class plays the what do you want to be game. He wants to be so many different and wonderful things but a dose of reality makes everything seem unreachable until his momma has a talk with him before bedtime!

I was impressed. There were many words that were unfamiliar to the kids like Haiku, Andromeda, tranquility, Luciano, Carnegie, but I loved hearing my 9 year old attempt them. The story of Zack and his day dreaming made me smile although I am sure that the message was lost until I read it to them!    After we broke it all down they really liked the book and I think it is a great story about dreaming and achieving." Personally I really love the pictures and the glossary but mostly I completely understand feeling completely lost as a child and try very hard not to bust my kids dreams when they share them with me. My daughter is 7 and still tells me she wants to be a superhero and I tell her she will be the best superhero ever."

  1. This sounds like a very entertaining book. I think my grandson would really like it. We used to live in Greensboro, NC when our kids were young. A great place for kids to grow up.

  2. Thanks for the great review. I like the review of the book and it will keep me looking out for it when I am shopping for books. My grandson is too little yet but this would be good for my other kid relatives!! Rita Spratlen rjspratlen@gmail.com
