With the 10th anniversary of 9/11, OEM, New York City's Office of Emergency Management wants your family to be ready for the worst.

Getting educated on just a few important things could be the difference between life and death.

As the mom of a two, planning and taking some steps to ensure their safety as well as mine and my husband gives me peace of mind that we will be OK, if we need to take care of ourselves for a couple of day.

Are you ready?

One way to be ready is by visiting the new Readiness Challenge – an online emergency simulation – a tornado tears through the city, knocking out power and jamming phone lines – that forces them to make quick decisions at every turn.  The Readiness Challenge also ties in the My Meeting Place Facebook application and other OEM materials to help users get started on their emergency plans.

NYC.Gov is chock full of important information on how to start a preparation Go Bag, map out escape routes, protect your pets, and more. Plus they have printable booklets you can print out right from your computer, like this one for ages K-5th grade.
