Before kids I was a huge pet lover. I adored my cat and dog and treated them like my babies. Eventually we will get pets for the kids (I think it is important for kids to grow up with pets), now is not a good time but I loved this Chicken Soup for the Soul Book. 

The stories within range from inspirational to heart wrenching. From undying love to the excitement of a new puppy. Pet owners are a special bred of people. Most pet lovers love their pets as they would a child and some just tolerate because of a family members love. Whatever the story, there is something in this book for everyone. 

My personal favorite is called A Healing Friendship about a Boxer and a 6 year old child named Jackson. Biscuit was a Christmas gift to the author Beth Fredrickson but after 3 years Biscuit ended up with a leg infection that would eventually cost the dog a leg. 6 year old Jackson decided to take it up himself to make sure Biscuit never felt alone. Jackson who was diagnosed with ADD and Biscuit share a very special relationship. While Jackson helped heal Biscuit after surgery, Biscuit has a calming affect on Jackson and helps him feel less out of control which is better than any pill or patch. 

If you have ever raised a pet, you know that there is just something about them that makes you love them and do anything for them, the same as you would do for your child.
