Fun, Fascinating, Fantastically, Weird But True Book for Kids and Adults

As part of the Family Review Network team, I received a copy of National Geographic Kid's Weird But True 300 Outrageous Facts book.

We have been having the most fun reading it.

Description from The National Geographic Site: At last, all those weird but true facts that readers of National Geographic Kids love so much are collected into a fun-filled book that you'll come back to again and again!

Weird But True is based on the hugely popular magazine page of quirky, fun facts that many readers of National Geographic Kids magazine turn to first. Why? Well did you know that...
  • Peanut butter can be converted into a diamond?
  • The world's oldest pet goldfish lived to be 43 years old?
  • The world's longest soap bubble was as long as four school buses?
  • On Neptune, the wind blows up to 1,243 miles an hour?
  • An elephant's tooth can weigh as much as a bowling ball?

All of the facts in this handy book will amaze friends and family: Animals Superpowers, Chills and Thrills, Eat or Be Eaten, Mini and Mega, Wild and Crazy, and much, much more. Adjacent pages for such facts present a one-paragraph explanation of how that fact is possible or why it is so.

Wacky facts, fascinating information, and lively art combine in this easy-to-browse, casual reference book that is sure to give young readers hours of fun.

In A Nutshell:  There are so many things to like about this book. I had no idea the concept was based on one of the most popular sections of the National Geographic Kids magazine but can see why they would dedicate a book to it.

Pros:
The book is small enough for little hands
The pictures are full color
The information is fun, educational, interesting and some of it is just plain weird.
(Pun on the Title!)
There are 300 facts in this 206 page book and at the end you are wishing and praying for book 2 to come out soon.

Cons:
This book will have your kid searching out information in your encyclepedias and searching on line for more weird, scientific and odd tidbits of information found in the pages of this fun book.

Good luck getting the book out of your kids hands to check it out yourself.

The kids love listening to me read from this book and looking at the pictures. After saying, "did you know that...blah, blah, blah (because I just couldn't read something from the book without adding "did you know" before hand. Go figure) I would shout to my husband, "Honey, did you know?

We, as a family have really enjoyed being part of this campaign and thankfully I have an extra copy to giveaway to a lucky reader. However, if you don't win and I hope you do. This is a great book idea for the kid grown-up kid in your life. Head over to the National Geographic Store and see what else they have over there.
