The Castaways by Elin Hilderbrand Amateur Book Review

Summary: Greg and Tess MacAvoy are one of four prominent Nantucket couples who count each other as best friends. As pillars of their close-knit community, the MacAvoys, Kapenashes, Drakes, and Wheelers are important to their friends and neighbors, and especially to each other. But just before the beginning of another idyllic summer, Greg and Tess are killed when their boat capsizes during an anniversary sail. As the warm weather approaches and the island mourns their loss, nothing can prepare the MacAvoy's closest friends for what will be revealed.

Once again, Hilderbrand masterfully weaves an intense tale of love and loyalty set against the backdrop of endless summer island life. -- Little, Brown & Co.

The book is really about the death of Tess and Greg and how it affects everyone involved or entangled in their lives.

I appreciated the way the chapters were laid out. Each chapter starts with a character's name and, like a sitcom they are the main focus of that chapter. You were able to connect and get a feel for each character no matter how secondary they were.

We find out quite a lot about Tess and Greg after their death and the happenings surrounding their boat capsizing which leads to their deaths. Throughout the book I wondering if their deaths were an accident or was there more to it?

The book although non-fiction gives you a reminder about making sure you have an up-to-date will. Tess and Greg have children and concern about who will take care of the children really made me very anxious. It is something all parents think about.

I'm not usually into these types of books. However, now I am interested. I like a little mystery and it seems like there is some good mystery goin on here. I will probably go buy it after I finish reading The Host.
